Bigger-boobed ladies - thoughts on bras?

I'm 14+5 and my boobs are definitely getting bigger, just beginning to test the limits of my larger-cupped bras.

I'm big to start with - 34FF - and I dread the idea of going without my underwire. A friend of mine who is similar size said she wore underwire throughout and had no issues with her milk coming in, just wondered if anyone else has any experience or thoughts? Or suggestions for non-wired bras that are fully supportive and sexy? x

Molke bras are great - plenty of flex for your size to change, amazingly supportive considering no underwire! They're not lacy type sexy, but they have great patterns, much better than most maternity/nursing bras.

You don't have to stop wearing underwires. Just make sure that the bra fits properly and the wires don't press on breast tissue.

I actually found that the volume of my breasts didn't change at all and just bought a £3 extender for my normal bras to accommodate my expanding rib cage. Try this first before spending any money on new bras.

Thanks both.

@Buxbaum unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's my boobs that have got bigger at the moment, they are doing a very impressive cleavage thing that isn't normal for me in spite of my big boobs Grin hopefully they will stop before they actually spill over. I'll have a look at the extenders, thank you!

I’m bigger busted. I always buy my bras feok bravissimo. I had 2 non wired & 1 wired through pregnancy & feeding (they have a new wired one you can wear when feeding). As I got my bump got bigger I preferred the non wired as the wires irritated. Highly highly recommend bravissimo. Expensive but I worth to look after your boobs. Extenders won’t stop the wires sticking into your breast tissue if it’s your boobs that have grown.

Oh I know that feeling!

I'm a 42G normally and bought and extender which works on my YOURS clothing bras but I'm resorting to buy the other brand I love which is triumph Doreen.

Back ache from hell but imho your better to try not to buy another bra right now unless your boobs are getting squished or risk taking someone's eye out as you may need to up another size later.

I'm 22 weeks and now feel like Lola from Eurotrash 🤣

Try a Molke. Theyre brilliant. At your size, id put you in a Medium large or a medium super. www.molke.co.uk/product-category/bras/

They re-sell and keep their value really well too

Thanks everyone Smile Two votes for Molke, I'll definitely take a look.

@Chocolateismylife I also swear by Bravissimo! They don't generally do non-underwire and I read somewhere that it should be avoided. Have had a few people now saying that wired has been fine for them though, so fingers crossed. The new wired one for feeding that you mentioned - is that Bravissimo? Maybe I haven't been looking closely enough at their site.

@gryffen Thanks! I'll try to hold out for now... I do have a couple of bras that are slightly larger so will see how long they cope for.

As a lifelong lover of wired bras I didn't see a reason to change either until my body protested against them at about 28 to 30 weeks. At that point the underwire began painfully digging into the top of my belly.

I'm stubborn though so ignored it initially and I wonder now if it was a contributing factor to the muscle at bra band level tearing around the same time. It seems it can't heal now because baby sits in the same area so I'm in constant pain. Yay.

So my best advice is once your belly starts getting large and/or at the first sign of unusual discomfort with your wired bras, switch to non-wired.

I bought nursing bras, Debenhams brand, I don't think they're sexy but my husband still does because of the way they can be opened in the front. 😏

A properly fitting underwired bra will do no harm. I'm on year 6 of pregnancy/breastfeeding in underwires!
