When to worry about movement?

I’m not worried more curious as to what point I should be.

24 weeks with dc2 but anterior placenta this time round. Baby has always been quiet and I normally only feel her in the evenings when I lay in bed. Tonight I haven’t but I’m assuming she’s still small enough to hide behind the placenta which will cushion movements? Next midwife appointment isn’t for 5 weeks and I seems to have 26 weeks in my head as the point to watch for patterns. Is that right.

A lot of midwives won't monitor movement of baby until 28 weeks ish because baby is small so can easily hide however if you are worried you should always ring! You know best.

I was told by my midwife to be keeping an eye on movements from 24 weeks, if I have any concerns to ring my maternity/labour ward. At this point they won’t monitor you however will check for a heart beat. Give them a call if your concerned they will either advise what you can do or just ask you to pop in for a quick check.

I'm 28 w with my first and also have an anterior placenta.
My midwife said I should start to recognise patterns of regular movement from 28 w onwards. I saw her at 25w and she gave me a booklet to start completing from 28w counting how long it took to feel 10 movements when resting for up to 2 hours.

Fab. Thanks everyone. My first was only 2 years ago but it seems I’ve forgotton it all!

I called with reduced movement at 25 weeks and was told to go in straight away. They monitored me for a few hours and all was well, but they said in no uncertain terms that I should call again if I had any future concerns about movements. If you're worried, call.

I agree with previous posters, if you are concerned ring your MAU for advice. I had anterior placenta and was in a few times for reduced movement, all was fine. I now have an extremely wriggly 3 month old!

Also have an anterior placenta this time around, I'm 20+3 and don't feel as much as I did with previous DCS. When I was reading up about it some people didnt feel much all the way through. Had a scan yesterday and he just looked very snuggled and cushioned and everything was perfect Smile
