Anxiety in pregnancy

Hi

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and never considered myself an anxious person before but my GOD I can't control myself at the moment. I'm an emotional wreck.

I have the usual worries about miscarriage etc... But I'm so anxious about everything in my life right now to the point that I even cry if my partner has to leave the house in case something happens to him and spend the whole time he's out nervously checking my phone to make sure he's got where he's going safely etc...

I feel like a complete loon but I just cannot control my emotions and thoughts at the minute.

Is it normal to be this crazy so soon?!

Congratulations. I'm the same, at 27 weeks now, was very anxious at the beginning, it dipped but then skyrocketed in the second trimester along with insomnia. Also got depression, probably from before pregnancy but only now diagnosed. It's worth mentioning it to your gp or midwife, I'm getting treatment for it now. Yes, it's common and normal but there is support and treatment out there if you ask. Also, you might get less anxious as go on on your pregnancy or you might not. I'm on anti anxiety meds now... reluctantly but they do help me and I'm eating better and am less restless. Its not medication or nothing either, talking treatments are good.

Hey there! I have also suffered with anxiety and ocd traits spurred on by pregnancy. I was totally normal before hand.. Began in the first trimester mildly and like op said absolutely sky rocketed in the second trimester to the point where I've had to have therapy weekly (I think it's all our hormones making us cray cray). However I entered the third trimester and it eased off tremendously! It's worth mentioning it to your midwife so that you don't have to suffer in silence, pregnancy is hard enough without, added problems from anxiety x
