Polyhydramnios - induction?

39 weeks pregnant this week. I have been having extra growth scans as I was high risk for a low birth weight baby, but it has turned out the baby is measuring large. At my last scan at 36/37 weeks they told me I had excess fluid. The first suggestion for cause was gestational diabetes so had to redo the 2 hour test immediately but passed with very normal levels.

I am going back to get rescanned today and meet with the consultant. I am worried about what else could be causing the polyhydramnios (I made the mistake of googling it Confused) and also worried about them suggesting induction because of this. Would they induce at this point purely because of the excess fluid?

Any experiences/advice/handholding appreciated. I think I'm extra nervous because my OH can't get the time off work to come to the appointment with me.

Lots of puerile have excess fluid simply because. If all your scans are clear then I'd try not to worry, its one of those things.

Anecdotally baby measurements with polyhydrominos can be out so your big baby may week come out average! There was a5 oz negative difference between my scan at 34 weeks and delivery at 35!

I wouldn't think they'd induce unless you or the baby needed out or you go to far over, although you might find the extra pressure means you go sooner rather than later.

Good luck x
