Snuzpod or next to me?

Just that: which is better? Do either travel easier?

We currently have a mamas and papas rocking crib (donated) and someone else willing to give us a Moses basket, but some friends have recommended Snuzpod and some Next to Me.

First timer here, due September and I ain’t got a scooby!!!

I got the next to me as think it's a bit bigger so lasts longer. Used ours until 8 months. I originally wanted the snuzpod as it looks nicer but people kept recommending the next to me.

Dancingleopard · 11/04/2018 13:44

Next to me. We loved ours. We finally had to move to a cot when dd was actually skimming out of it on to our bed Blush

I never had to worry about our blanket and I could hold her hand or cuddle her easily from my bed, which after have a c-section scar that reopened was invaluable. Best Buy of my whole baby stuff.

Blondemother · 11/04/2018 13:52

I had the Next to me and loved it. Easy to pack down and travel with.

harrietm87 · 11/04/2018 14:54

We chose the next2me as it's bigger, softer (my friend's baby kept bashing her head/hands on the snuzpod), and packs up into a flat travel bag.

thumbelina03 · 11/04/2018 14:55

The Tutti Bambini Cozee is meant to be larger than the Snuz Pod and he Next to Me, so we're going to go for that - will mean we'll get more use out of it. It's about £10 cheaper than the Snuzpod.

SinkGirl · 11/04/2018 14:56

We had an arms reach which is meant for twins but would last a singleton much longer. It is the same size as a travel cot (so easy to get a mattress for) and can be used as a travel cot too. I got mine second hand and sold it on when I was done. My twins stayed in it until just over 6 months

Rogue1234 · 11/04/2018 15:01

We have a Snuzpod and we wish we'd bought the Next2Me!

  1. If the baby has a cold / reflux you can tilt the Next2Me but you can't the Snuzpod.
  2. We liked the fact that you can rock the Snuzpod (when used as a separate crib) but it is really difficult on carpet.
  3. The Snuzpod is much smaller than the Next2Me. We will probably have to bring DS's proper cot into our bedroom because it's looking like he will outgrow the Snuzpod before he's 6 months old!
  4. The Next2Me is lighter and easier to use as a travel cot.
Almostthere15 · 11/04/2018 16:23

We're going with the Tutti Bambini Cozee, I'm not sure it's bigger than the next to me (I put the mattresses together in Mothercare and they are identical) but it's certainly bigger than the snuzpod. I like that you can tilt it at one end and it has the shelf (similar to snuzpod).

Blueroses99 · 11/04/2018 16:28

Next2Me for all the good reasons mentioned above. I wanted the Cozee at one point as I thought it looked nicer but it was out of stock at the time, however have no regrets with a Next2Me. The ability to tilt for a reflux baby was invaluable and I feel the size meant we used it for longer than we could have used a Snuzpod.

Twitchett22 · 11/04/2018 18:30

We've got the Tutti Bambini Cozee bedside crib and I can't fault it. DD has reflux so the fact that it tilts is great. She's a very long baby who likes to spread her arms a lot and she's still got plenty of room whereas she's almost outgrown her pram carrycot.

NoParticularPattern · 11/04/2018 18:38

We’ve got the Tutti Bambini one and it’s fab. We went for that over the snuzpod as it’s so much bigger and I was certain baby would be a giant. Turns out she’s not huge weight wise but is indeed very long so would probably have been out of the snuzpod by now what with her tendency to flail her arms! The only thing I don’t like about the cozee crib is that it appears to tilt towards our bed when attached in cosleeper mode. Now I’m not sure if it’s our bed or the crib itself but I haven’t managed to fix it as yet and have just resorted to propping the mattress up on one side slightly so she doesn’t end up rolling over with the slight tilt and then wake herself up. She sleeps well in it though and I’m really pleased with it on the whole.

Tip if you do get it- don’t buy the branded bedding. It’s a fortune! A lot of places stock next2me sized fitted sheets/mattress protectors etc which fit on the next2me (obviously!) but they also fit fine on the Cozee crib too.

Strawberry2017 · 11/04/2018 18:56

I got a second hand next to me on eBay and replaced the mattress. I love it but think if I was to buy it again I would get the next to me dream bedside instead, I like how you can half drop the side on it.
My daughter is 4 months and sleeps right up to the edge so I can't have the side down, with that one I could have it partially down and still reach her easily to put dummy back in and set Ewan off again when needed.
The fitted sheets for the snuz pod actually fit the next to me too - I got a 2 pack for £10 on Amazon.

lifechangesforever · 11/04/2018 19:10

It's just bought the Tutti Bambini CoZee, which is essentially the same as the Next2Me but I think it looks a lot nicer and N2M legs wouldn't have worked with our bed type.

I really loved that you could take the bassinet off the Snuzpod and that was a big selling point but size wise, it was no bigger than a Moses basket so didn't see the point in the extra cost.

lifechangesforever · 11/04/2018 19:13

Plus also, you can tilt the CoZee and it has a shelf underneath for supplies.

I don't think it's any bigger than N2M either as I put the mattress from N2M in it whilst in the shop but I think it was worth the extra £35 - although it's another 14 weeks or so till I get to use it!

WasThatPlaceTHESUN · 11/04/2018 19:42

We have the Snuzpod, 5mo DD still has plenty of space in it and tbh I didn't want a huge cot taking up space in my bedroom. Plus I just think it looks much nicer.

Wellthisunexpected · 11/04/2018 20:51

Snuzpod is higher than the next to me, so better if you have a high bed. It also looks nicer!

N2M travels better and is bigger.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 11/04/2018 20:53

We have a second hand snuzpod (new mattress obv) because our bedroom is small and our bed is high - the others would be too big

harrietm87 · 11/04/2018 22:18

The next2me dream is deffo higher than the snuzpod (not sure if the standard next2me is) - we have a high bed so measured both.

FusRoDah · 11/04/2018 22:23

We have the Cozee and it's fab - agree with pp that the branded bedding for it is a total ripoff! We got compatible mattress protectors and sheets on Amazon for at most a third of the price.

PoodleDoodleCaboodle · 11/04/2018 22:29

We did a lot of research on cribs and read a lot of threads where they snuzpod (which we were very keen on) was prone to mould growing under the mattress. The company is amazing and will send you out a replacement if this happens but we didn't want to risk anything. We've gone for the Chicco N2M instead.

SidSparrow · 12/04/2018 08:17

I started off with the next2me but the zip broke on the first night. I decided to replace it as overall it felt shoddy and cheap and really rickety. It does dismantle easyily so good if you need to take it with you and it is bigger. I opted for the snuzpod which for us is far better. It looks nicer and is sturdy. Wood as opposed to metal. I like how you can take the crib off the frame and take into a different room. We do this for daytime. Most importantly I prefer the panel that you take down. The chicco felt awkward, the zips were chunky and stiff (one of them broke) and the bar at the top was an effort to take off and put on again. It was all quite stiff and clumsy. If you have the crib open all the time then no problem but we wanted to attach it back up once baba was asleep to stop any duvet riding over. Much easier to put the panel up and down on the snuzpod, two easy zips and two small velcro tabs.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies! Some really helpful comments and tips there!

The Next2Me is dreadfully ugly but I can see that it is probably the more practical choice. We hired a Bednest for DC1 (and loved it) and we are being lent a Snuzpod this time around so we'll see how we get on.

harrietm87 · 12/04/2018 09:03

Just re sidsparrow's comment, we've got the next2me dream version which doesn't involve zips at all, the side just pushes down - it's really easy.
