I lost a pint and a half of my blood on DD due to taking aspirin throughout to prevent PE. Back on it again for this pregnancy, I'm wondering if any ladies who had a PPH the first time, what did the doctors / midwives do to prevent you having a second one? Very interested to know as last time I was very unwell after having DD and it really slowed down our bonding process!

I lost 1500ml with my first so was consultant led for my second. I lost a minimal amount the second time and felt much better much more quickly. I didn’t realise how ill i’d been after my first till I had my second, despite my dh telling me to rest and that I wasn’t myself for a long time after my first.

After having my second I did pass a large (size of my hand) clot about two days after, I called the midwife but they weren’t too concerned. I also bled a lot less for less time after my second. Overall a much more positive experience and recovery.

I lost over 4 and half liters of blood after my first. I had 4th degree tear 5 hours in surgery i think in total i had 9units of blood transfused. The only sure way for me to avoid it again was to have a c section.

I had absolutely no aftercare or mention of it at all. The only reason I found out was I asked how much blood id lost because I kept passing out and I saw myself in the mirror and I’ve never seen any live person look that colour - I looked totally drained out (I’m pale anyway but this was like chalk.) they eventually told me 1999 ml ... no follow up, no aftercare and no difference in prenatal care this time. Should you get consultant led after that? :/
