Have a look at this www.babies.co.uk/sleeping/a/getting-the-temperature-right/

Swaddling was much loved by my two. In the summer I would put them in a sleepsuit no vest or a long sleeved vest and no sleepsuit then swaddled in a giant muslin square.

I would really recommend using gro bags. They come in varying togs with instructions of what to put on the baby underneath for each temperature.

I have a June baby and we used cellular blankets. It was fine. The best advice we had was that baby should have 1 more layer than you (we judged it on DH as I was constantly boiling after giving birth, even when it was chilly). Also you can absolutely swaddle - we were in a very hot and sticky hospital for a while after having him and the midwives were always swaddling him. He loved it.

We used Grosnugs for our summer newborn last year. They are made for newborns before they are big enough for Grobags (10lb).

They are sleeping bags that can also be used to swaddle.

I was just coming on to say Grosnugs as well - so I second that suggestion. One of the best baby purchases I made. Used it like a 'swaddle' (with the arms in) and then more like a bag (with the arms out) until DS was big enough for a Grobag.

Too small for all mine then!😂

DC2 was a june baby, it was boiling. She slept in a vest and with cellular blankets, we wefe advised not to swaddle as lack of air flow couldhave overheated her, as babies cannot regulate their temp through sweating. It was 25 degrees plus most days though, despite it being the UK!

The other thing with swaddles is to make sure they're not too tight on the hips as it can affect their development.

@Psychobabble123 ooh! I have 6 pounders Smile

Psychobabble123 · 10/04/2018 13:58

pimlico I genuinely wouldn't know what to do with a baby so small! My smallest was 9lb 12, biggest 10lb 5 Shock 😂

We only ever used blankets because personally I don't like swaddling or sleeping bags. Don't see the point or need for it at all
