19 weeks no movement

Hello ladies,

Just wondering, I am almost 19 weeks and have felt no movement at all. Not even gas that I could mistake for movements. I know my little one is still there as I heard the heart beat this weekenend.

As far as I am aware my placenta is in the normal place. Just a little confused / anxious! It is my first, but I thought I’d feel SOMETHING by now. Just getting a little concerned! Any ideas? xx

It's still early if this is your first. I think anytime up to 24 weeks is normal. Might even be later.

ChaoticKate · 09/04/2018 08:02

I didn’t feel anything at all until 23 weeks. 19 would be really early.

Addictedtohavingbabies · 09/04/2018 08:10

Are you a bigger lady? With my first I felt from around 16 weeks but not till around 19/20 weeks with my fourth as had a bigger tummy. Baby was facing my back also so the kicks were towards my back ( on a scan).

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 09/04/2018 08:12

It's still very early with your first. Honestly, I don't know where the idea is coming from that it's normal to feel movement this early. It's technically possible but huge numbers of people with perfectly healthy normal pregnancies won't have.

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 09/04/2018 08:14

I never felt anything until after my 20 week scan with either dc.

kittylily2305 · 09/04/2018 08:16

I felt the same but I didn't actually feel anything properly until maybe 21 or 22 weeks Smile

BasinHaircut · 09/04/2018 08:18

I was 22 weeks before I felt anything, and that was still just stuff that could have been gas. Totally normal.

Cat12321 · 09/04/2018 08:25

Completely normal. I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks.

You may have an anterior placenta like many of us do. Try not to worry SmileThanks

CJ1990 · 09/04/2018 08:45

Thanks ladies :)
I wouldn’t say I’m a big lady, only 2-3 pounds overweight according to my height (very small - just 5 foot!) and age. Guess I just need to wait it out :) I am impatient at the best of times!

OP I think you’ve posted about this a few times now? I know your friends said they felt movement at this stage but I wouldn’t put too much stock in that. They could be really lucky but I’d imagine it’s more them misremembering or exaggerating! If you’re still feeling so anxious about this I would contact the midwife. I know you’ve said you don’t want to be bothering them but if it would put your mind at ease she’s not going to mind

Hypermice · 09/04/2018 09:07

I didn’t feel anything until 24 weeks first time round - it’s very common not to as a first timer.
Second one could feel from 15 weeks.

Both anterior placentas - that can cushion quite a lot of the pummelling. I’m noticing I feel this second baby very differently to the first.

You should get the 20w scan soon? That should show you them moving

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 09:14

@CJ1990, did your scan at the weekend not reassure you? you know your little one is ok so please try and relax a wee bit, you are going to drive yourself mad

LaurG · 09/04/2018 20:31

I felt nothing till after 20/22 weeks. Now 27 weeks and being kicked 24/7. Don’t worry about it x

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2018 20:35

You could maybe try lying on your tummy in bed for a while if it's comfortable to do so.

That's how I first felt DC1 at about 18 or 19 weeks.

CJ1990 · 10/04/2018 10:38

Thanks ladies.
Hi @snowy1982, it did :) but it’s just people sticking their noses in..everytime I relax I have someone look at me like somethings wrong! The latest comment today when I said I haven’t felt anything being “maybe baby isn’t growing well or is too small - make sure they check it properly at the 20 week scan...” very helpful....!! I’m fine until the judgement starts! Just wanted to see when everyone else felt it so I can ignore the people making comments. :)

I think you need to consider who your talking to about things, they sound awful. Anytime I have mentioned to anyone that I haven’t felt anything they think I’m crazy to be worrying about it this early and that it’s totally normal.

Stop listening to those worrywarts @CJ1990, for one thing every pregnancy is different, you have everyone on here saying the same thing and most importantly you saw your healthy baby wriggling around just on Saturday. Trust in what you saw!!

CJ1990 · 10/04/2018 12:18

Thanks @snowy1982 :) - mainly people at work (which is why I didn’t want to tell people but it’s getting out now!) think when I’m asked about stuff I’ll just respond with one word answers! Haha x

Or else ask them what qualifies them to make such ridiculous statements Smile
