Placenta previa plus abruption for the first, shall I continue with my second? HELP

Hi ladies, due to the infertility issue, we had our first baby via ICSI. I had placenta previa (3rd degree) which completed covered the cervix. Bleeding since week 6, on and off, never stopped. At 20 weeks the doc told me I also had placenta abrupption which resulted in my baby having restricted growth. I knew from then my baby would not reach full term and every week would be a bonus for her. My water broke at wc 27 and she was born wc 29. She was born 946g and stayed in NICU for 54 days. She is now 16 months. Other than being small she is absolutely fine. We were told be the doc it is highly unlikely we would get pregnant naturally. However, we did! I am 5 weeks preganant. My feeling is mixed. My family strongly advise me to get an abortion due to the high risk of having the same situation again. My husband is also not sure whether I shall continue. Deep down in my heart, I truly feel this is a gift and it is very difficult for me to decide what I shall do. I kind of hope the previous situation will not happen as this time it is all happened naturally. I just wondered if anyone has had same experience who successfully had a second baby? Anyone could share their experience please? Thank you so much!

I'm sorry you had such a difficult pregnancy OP, that must have been really hard.

Has a dr advised you that there is a very high risk of the same thing happening again? Or are your family just concerned? As you want the baby I'd be inclined to see if you can be referred to a consultant ASAP to discuss the risks and options available to you. Knowledge is power in these situations I think.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

It can be so hard, a pregnancy after a difficult pregnancy.

Is there actually an increased risk of placenta praevia , because it's happened before?
How early would it be diagnosable?
I have no idea of the answers to those questions.
I would be wanting to get answers from an obstetrics consultant before making any decisions.

Dr internet( not to be relied on) suggests around 10% recurrence, or less. So, 90% chance things will be fine.

But ask your GP for an urgent referral to an expert.

Thank you! I am phoning everywhere today to try to get an appointment either via NHS or private. Things are going very slowly...

I haven't had placenta previa, but I did have a placental abruption (without bleeding). I had this with my 2nd DC and she had IUGR (stopped growing). I had two other DC after her, and it didn't happen again x

Good luck with that search for a consultation.

Gotta listen to your heart.

My consultant told me - after a premature baby due to placenta previa - that the chance of it happening again is low. The placenta likes to grow in different places each time.
Consultant should see you because of your past experience.
No placenta issues with DC2 and got to almost due date
Hope all goes well. Pregnancy after a traumatic one is really hard
