Did you hide or show off your bloat?

Currently 10+3. Have a big bloated belly that anyone would think is a small baby bump (it's definitely bloat). Now as odd as this sounds to some, I just see this as a change my body is going through because I am pregnant and am proud of my body changing in this way.

My questions:

  • when did you get a 'proper' bump?
  • did you try to hide your bloat by buying new clothes and wearing jumpers or did you embrace it and show it off?
  • other than bump, what was the biggest change you noticed in your body?

With first baby I didn’t show properly till later, but this time round I’ve had definite bump not bloat since about 12 weeks...was 17 first time and 30 this time though so I think my tummy isn’t as toned or able to hold it all in as before 🙈

@MrsDx nothing wrong with that! I can't wait to have a proper bump (though I'll probably be missing my flat-ish belly once it's arrived!).

Congrats SmileFlowers

Thanks for everyone's responses

I hid my bloat in my first trimester, my tummy felt really sore so I couldnt stand any form of waist band on it so wore lots of dresses. Our office is pretty cold so I wore wraps and scarves to disguise it as I have a flat stomach normally.

I got a baby bump a similar size to my bloat at 20 weeks! I'm now 22 weeks and there is a proper bump but I still feel very odd about showing it at work. Out of work is fine but maybe its because I work with all men and I find them checking out my stomach area very weird.

I've been hiding it. I'm 16 weeks now and I think a little bump is beginning to emerge now, but I'm going to hide it for a little bit longer yet. I can still wear nice baggy jumpers because it's still not that warm at the moment.
Only me, my partner and my best friend know about my pregnancy and I don't feel ready to announce it to the world just yet.

@SPARKS17 good that you were able to hide it. My office is so stuffy so I may have to resort to buying some new (cheap!) clothes. It's a shame the men in your office make you feel that way. The men in my office are so lovely and don't think any of my previously pregnant colleagues were uncomfortable!

@lookingforaline18 congrats! I have no idea when I'm going to announce mine. My boss knows already as I've been quite sick but other than that, just DP and one close friend!

Bought clothes a size bigger- mainly dresses that went in under the breasts but flowed out past the stomach. Hid it very well until the second trimester.

@ShirlySue - This is so funny as I've been having the same problem! Been stressing to myself about how bloated I am and how at 7 weeks I wouldn't have a bump, so keep telling people (who know) "ugh im so bloated".

I am slim but I think the main problem is I cant "hold" my belly in anymore haha.

lookingforaline18 · 06/04/2018 15:29

Thank you op 🙂 congrats to you too!
Just announce it when you're ready, no rush. You'll still be able to get away with it for a few more weeks yet I bet!

I hid mine but I chose to hide my pregnancy until we had the results of our CVS tests at 15 weeks.

The bloating was uncomfortable and embarrassing to me but hidden by normal clothes and I honestly don't think it looks the same as a properly pregnant looking stomach. I looked pregnant at about 19 or 20 weeks I think.
