Just checking in if anybody had anything similar.. since I woke up today, so. About 4hrs (was up all night with dd1) I've been having constant period pains, with no break yet? I've been laying down for the last hour or two and still no change. Has anyone else experienced this? It's been 6yrs since I was pregnant, but I can't remember this happening before x

I think I'd call my midwife if I were you. Better to be checked out.

I had the same at 29wks. I went up the hospital and as soon as they put the speculum in a load of blood gushed out - my placenta was coming away! My son ended up being born 33wks but was kept in as I was at risk of placental abruption. The pain was the blood gathering in the uterus and causing contractions, I had to have pethadine to ease it.

I'm not saying this to frighten you but please do get it checked out because a placental abruption can be deadly. It might be nothing but not worth taking that risk. Flowers

constant period cramps is how my first labour started. I’m not trying to scare you but I’d call your midwife and get checked out just to be safe.

Do get checked out, but I've been getting constant fairly low level periody pain on and off for a few weeks now - paracetamol helps if manage take some. I'm closely monitored so looked at fairly often and it's not been a problem so far. I'm told it's pretty common.

Hi everyone, thanks for the quick replies. I rang the birth center who told me to ring the labour line, they have advised me to take paracetamol and wait half an hour, if pains have not died down/stopped then to come in for monitoring. Hoping it's just the way babies laid but I'm grateful for your posts as if something was wrong and it put it to the back of my mind not wanting to bother people, I'd feel so guilty. I'll keep you updated x
