Maternity bras for bigger breasted ladies

Is anyone able to recommend a good website to get maternity bras? I am normally a 34H and at 18w my bras actually still fit me at the moment, but I think I'm at the point where I want a little more comfort and I've read that it is a good idea to ditch the wired bras. I'm planning on ordering the next back size up and a few cups bigger to accommodate growing boobies - does this sound ok?

I ordered one the other day and it's just awful, makes my boobs look really pointy!!! So thought I'd ask for some real life recommendations before taking another punt. :)

Bravissimo stock a good range of maternity and nursing bras. Pre-BFP I was a 34 J. 18 weeks and currently rocking a 36 K. They go up to an N if needed.

First time round I bought loads of maternity bras but was underwhelmed every time. I did get the impression that most mat bra sellers on the high Street (mothercare, M&S, jl etc) size the old way with even more stretchy fabrics than normal bras so no chance of a decent fit.
This time I just used pull on sports bras most of the time and have a couple of HotMilk ones for bf in (although I do feed from the pull ons too) Sports nursing bras are still a problem, and if I need something properly structured I just go for an ordinary one. Underwires are fine if the bra fits perfectly.

I use bravissimo.com. I'm a 34G so know where you're coming from!

I tried but with bigger boobs, non-wired materinty bras were not actually comfortable, but gave me a sweaty droopy monoboob. You can wear wires as long as the bra fits properly.

Freya nursing bras. Underwired, smooth cup, t-shirt type. Forget they are nursing bras, they are pretty much normal bras that happen to have drop cup clips on them. I've worn them every day since buying them

Yours clothing has a range
Panache, Bravissimo etc

I'm in same boat as looking for one to possibly BF in but also just a comfy bra since I'm a 42G to begin with lol

DarkLikeVader · 05/04/2018 14:00

30GG to 32HH whilst pregnant- I never used maternity bras as I can’t be doin without wires! Can second the Freya recommendation though. Very comfy!

I'm 38f and I've just bought some pretty decent nursing bras from George! Two sets of two, one in my actual size and one in a large. I'm 36 weeks and have given up on wires and padding, these are really comfy. And one of the sets are lace trimmed so they don't look too frumpy 👍🏼

Have a look at Molke - so comfy! And ideal for feeding. Not cheap but price is similar to Bravissimo

Namechangedtoscream · 05/04/2018 15:17

Brastop online are brilliant. All the top brands in our supersizes but for a lot less money. Try a load out and send em back.

I'm usually a 36H but I'm now bursting out at 18 weeks. I don't intend to breastfeed so just need comfy non sports bras

felinechatty · 05/04/2018 21:20

Another vote for Bravissimo. If you can get to any of their physical locations, I highly recommend their free fitting service which they do without tape measures. The lady who did mine was extremely knowledgeable, got me a whole variety of different styles and sizes to try on (since they can vary between brand) and wasn't pushy at all about making me buy more than I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised as well at how supportive the bras were without underwire.

Buxbaum · 05/04/2018 21:27

You don’t have to stop wearing underwires unless you want to. As long as your bra fits properly and the wires don’t press on any breast tissue then there’s absolutely no problem.

niclw · 05/04/2018 21:48

I went to John Lewis for a fitting the other day. Turns out that they only stock one in store and it was awful. The sales assistant recommended bravissimo. I had tried to get a fitting there but they didn't have any gaps. Will try again this weekend.

Thanks for the recommendations ladies, I will be having a look today! The Freya bra looks perfect but unfortunately only goes to a HH cup, I think I would be better off buying a J. I will have to do some measuring using their measurement guides.

Molke are super comfy, and will fit for longer if you change size.

I also have a cake maternity bra from bravissimo which is comfy, and sized up in a standard underwired bra.

I always thought I'd hate non wired, but to be honest I've worn them the most as they're just so comfy!

sammy891 · 07/04/2018 12:05

I second the Molke Bras, never wear anything else now they are so good!

claptomania · 07/04/2018 19:58

Highly recommend Hotmilk Show Off - H cup here and I needed some serious scaffolding! They are actually nursing bras but have no wires so were good for me in pregnancy too.

This one (sorry no idea how to do clicky link if it doesn’t happen automatically) - www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/showdetails.asp?id=356&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkd3VBRDzARIsAAdGzMBcQgfbPWKHO0UIDzWRn1T_1O7qNku_FT0qCxncKIqzjaKbyphBFIoaAqkqEALw_wcB

Sorry to hijack the thread but is there anyone whose boobs just keep growing and growing?! My boobs grew bigger very early on in pregnancy to the point where I really had to go and get fitted as my bras were digging in and my breasts were falling out my cups - this was mid-January, I bought three bras from Debenhams after being fitted and had gone up a cup size. I'm now going on 30 weeks and these bras are now digging in loads and the band doesn't stay where it should it sort of rolls/lifts up with my boobs and it's really uncomfortable. We are financially in a precarious position atm and I am a small back size - large cup size so can't just nip into a Primark and get some cheap ones as most those shops don't sell my size. I really don't want to have to go back and buy more bras as I figure towards the end of my pregnancy my boobs will be even bigger won't they?! Is this normal, how do other women cope?
