First midwife appointment

Hi

I’m not sure if this has been asked before but I couldn’t find the answer anywhere.

I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first child. I went to the gp two weeks ago and she had me fill in a form to register with the midwife and then gave me leaflets and the local midwifes phone numbers.

Do I need to phone to book the first appointment with the midwife or will I be sent a letter out in the post.

The gp did say that they’d probably keep an extra eye on me with extra appointments due to a cyst I have on the brain, but she didn’t say whether they would be in touch or if I need to chase them.

Thank you.

I think it differs in different areas; I had to phone the midwives to arrange an appointment. Probably worth calling them to check. Congratulations!

Congratulations! I was called 48 hours after I gave that form in, for a booking appointment at 8 weeks 6 days, I was 5 weeks on the day they called as I went to docs at 4+5. It us area dependant (I'm in Kent) obviously on how busy they are, but first appt should be 8-10, then scan 10-12 roughly. Hope you get your appointment soon x

Round here midwife bookings are 10-12 weeks
I have mine for 10+4

I also had to phone and refer myself
GPs don’t have any contact

Thank you so much.
I’m in Carmarthenshire so hopefully I’ll just need to ring to get that sorted but I didn’t want to ring them and bother them if I was meant to wait for a letter.

Thanks again.
