3D scan - very frustrating and now I am worried

The lady who did my 20 week scan was so unfriendly and rude that me and DH decided to go for a private 3d scan so we could have a nice time seeing our baby again after the rude lady. so off we went two weeks ago and basically spent the whole day there with them trying every couple of hours or so and they kept saying it was in the wrong position so couldn't see his/her face so we gave up and went again last night to try again (as we had already paid and non refundable) and the same thing happened again. baby's legs looked like they were straight and in front of his face. i asked if this looked right and the guy doing it said 'yeah'. Firstly has anyone else had such frustrating experience with 3D scan and secondly do you think I am worrying about nothing by worrying about the baby's legs being in such an odd position? (I know they are very agile and can move around into funny positions) Sorry seem to have rambled a bit here!!

I had a similar thing, the lady who did my scan looked at the screen like there was an alien on it and said i can't see the heart it put the fear of god in me, turned out he had his face on his shins I had to go back again once he had grown and moved about abit. I really looked forward to my scans and then that made me feel awful, a better bed side manner would of helped though! Unfortunatly for us the little babies don't know it's time to pose!

the 20 week scan is basically to check for abnormalities and see that everything is where is should be - was that not done at first place?

I haven't had a 3D scan, but in my 20 week scan photo dd looks as though she is bent in half. Don't fret.

Don't worry - they tie themeselves in knots in there - it settles down as they get bigger and cant move as much. with ds1 I had a 3d scan at 26 weeks and it was great - he was in optimum position to see the face, waving etc, but this time I had one recently at 20 weeks and all you could see was the back of his head as he was in the wrong position all the time. I think we just went a bit early this time - they settle down. When they say wrong position they just mean wrong to see the face, there is no wrong or dangerous position at this point in the pg I don't think. Will they let you try again in a few weeks?

Yes, you are worrying about nothing! I had something similar when I went first for my nuchal scan (3d scan was done at this as well as regular 2d). The baby would NOT lie in the right position for the scan and they could not budge her into the right position. They loaded me up with sugary coffees and hot chocos to get her up and moving loads and still this did not work. Without exaggeration, I was there from 11:30 am till 6 pm b/c I did not want to have to come back a different day. Finally, after many sugary drinks, walks and jumps they got her in the optimal postion.

Similar thing happened again when I went for my 20 week scan too, altho it wasn't quite the marathon 7 hours or so like the the nuchal scan. I'm sure the baby knew and she was just being stubborn! It is very common to not get the baby in the right spot and it's not always easy to move the baby into the ideal postion. I'm sure it is frustrating for you but if this was done privately, you should be able to go back till they are able to look at everything they need to properly and get you a nice pic of baby. Please don't worry, it does not mean there's anything wrong. It's just cramped in the womb and when the baby finds a comfy spot (even if that means feet up in the air) like anyone else, he/she doesn't like moving! Don't worry, there's nothing strange about this, it's just frustating for you .

I ditto lemmiwinks comments. There's not much room in there!

I had a 3D scan and had to go out and walk around for half an hour to get my son into a decent position. Nothing to worry about!
