Back ache!! Could this be a sign of labour at 24 weeks

I've had really quite bad back ache only on my left side and in my hip on and off all day... is this normal?

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and it's concerning me that it might be a sign of labour as over the last few days I've had more discharge than usual and I've read that they can be signs of premature labour.

Thanks

The only answer you will ever get to a question like this is, “call your midwife”.
Try not to panic though, pregnancy takes its toll on your body. Is it your first or have you had other pregnancies?

Its more likely not unless you've lost your plug. But I would go in and get checked (at this point should be labour and delivery suite you phone I think)
Explain that you're getting tightenings and strange discharge, they can do a scan, internal check for dialation and a swab called fetal fibron(something) which shows if you're likely to go into labour in the next 2 weeks.

Could it be pelvic girdle pain and/or sciatica? I get quite bad lower back ache on one side and in my hip/bum cheek if I’m standing for long periods now.

Do get it checked but hopefully (in a sort of horrible way) it is musculoskeletal!

I was also going to say pelvic girdle pain. I'm also 24 weeks and get back pains on one side only including pains down my leg most days. This is my third pregnancy.

Have you had previous labours? In m experience the pain is quite memorable and you would recognise it if that's what it was.

Honestly if this was the case I’d be in labour from about week 15. Phone your midwife just to be sure, but aches and pains are very normal so it’s hard to say unless you’re in front of a professional
