Hi everyone I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I keep going really dizzy and feeling very faint and not being able to breathe. It's happened quite a lot the past few days. Is this normal at this stage of pregnancy? I've got an appointment to see my midwife tomorrow so I'm going to bring it up with her but was just looking for some advice, Thankyou x

HI,
when you are unsure it is always better to talk to someone and your midwife is a good person to talk too! I also had some fainting feelings but I guess it's different for everybody!

Yeah I'd bring it up to your midwife, however I started feeling like this around 28 weeks, it was worse when I was laying in a funny position and also if I was out of breath from walking too much. I actually almost passed out at my 29 week 4D scan as laying on my back made me feel faint! However it has improved, especially now bubs has dropped x

Pregnancy puts a lot of strain on your heart and can affect your blood pressure.
Definitely get the midwife to check it out

I've been getting this a lot and I'm only 26 weeks. Turns out it's anxiety and panic attacks and my physical health is perfect. I'm not good at relaxing, I like to be moving. I'm now on the right psycatric medication but was very reluctant to take anything as I've had bad experience with them in the past. I also have left hip pain and have found leaning against a wall and buying a Mary Poppins style umbrella, which doubles up as a walking stick helps. I feel more confident as well when I'm walking through crowds I have held my umbrella in frount of me once to get space, just like my granny. The stormy weather makes me worse, with headakes.

At 36 weeks I’d ring maternity ward not wait for routine app- not to scare you but I think the stage justifies getting quicker advice and they might want to check you over.
I had fainting episodes with my dc2 but it was earlier on and linked to morning sickness and low blood pressure think it was 12-18 weeks of pregnancy.
Anyone I’m sure all will be fine op but honestly call the maternity unit they absolutely won’t mind.

This happened to me both previous pregnancies. It was even worse when in the bathroom (steam from the hot water knocked me out). It was bad if I stood up, walked, absolutely anything really!
Try to keep cool and move slowly. See a midwife if you’re concerned of course but for me it just seems to be part of the package

Thankyou everyone for your replies, she just told me if it continues to ring up triage and get seen, she's not too worried as apparently this happens quite a lot in pregnancy! Thank god it's nearly over, definitely at the fed up stage now!

Glad you've got some reassurance. I have this too and have put it down to low BP and slight anemia. I'm 31 weeks now and it started at around 25-26 weeks I think. Best wishes for the rest of your pg.

I'm 38 weeks and had a couple of recent dizzy spells. My mw said this is normal at this point in the pregnancy. Take your take when standing up or getting up after lying down. If you're stood up make sure that you keep you legs moving especially if you're standing still in a queue etc etc.
I make sure I don't take a bath or shower when my DH isn't home as being hot seems to make it worse. Stay hydrated, plenty of water OP.

I'm just butting in to say my dizziness and tiredness was actually caused my low iron, so at 29 weeks I've been prescribed with supplements. I then looked up the symptoms of anemia and I have almost all of them, I had noticed pale skin, more veins were becoming visible but dismissed it as I'm normally pale I thought it was just the heatwave. Talked to family members who have also been aneimic at times and it's really not a big deal, I'm just not a protein fan and go off iron rich food in the heat anyway. I've felt dizzy when standing up too fast in and off thoughout most of my pregnancy but at least my blood pressure isn't too high so I think myself lucky I'm not at risk of diabetes or preclamsia.
