Hi ladies, need a little rant. I’m from the UK, I live in Weston-super-Mare by Bristol, Weston hospital won’t treat me due to me having Crohn’s disease, however I’m booked to have my baby in st Micheals hospital in Bristol, I’ve had spd since 34 weeks, it’s got increasingly worse, I am now at the point where I wake up everyday in even more pain, I get stuck walking, I am constantly crying and sobbing due to the pain, I cry out when I get sharp pains, it’s all in my lower back and some in my abdomen. In that much pain I had an ambulance last night, I’m on cocodomal and I am 39+4 in absolute agony I’m crying on the phone and it is impossible to move about or even sit down. I rang st Michaels today and they refuse to see me as all they would do is put me on the same pain relief as I’m on now, I tried Southmead hospital and was crying to them and they said there is nothing they can do and I’ve basically got to suffer till she is here. I don’t know what else to do, I’m in agony I can’t even describe the pain but I break down and cry at almost every step, I’ve tried baths, hot compress, all sorts and I have to get my partner to turn me over in bed. I’m genuinely in the worst pain I’ve ever felt and I’m losing energy due to the pain.😭😭

You poor thing - I was the same at 39 weeks last time. is there an osteo near you you could see? Worth trying to book an appointment privately just to get some relief.

Depending on where the pain is an ice pack on your groin and/or a wheat pack on your bum may help (I do both).

Poor you. I don't have any real advice, only deep sympathies as I was the same in the late stages of my 2nd pregnancy (hence no more DCs!). I was referred for physio with spd and diastasis recti (actually at Southmead) and given a super stiff tubigrip which didn't really make much of a difference as it mainly squeezed the bump and didn't do much for the pelvis. I was advised to carry a plastic bag so that if I ventured to sit down, I'd sit on it and be able to slide myself off the seat again, rather than stand straight up. That did help. I did find spending time in a warm pool a great relief (discovered this on holiday, and followed up in the children's pool at the gym once back home) but you sound like you are possibly too far gone for that to have any effect.
It is rotten when you feel you need to rest to be in a good place for when baby arrives but you're in pain and exhausted Sad
Try to take it easy, accept help whenever it is offered and congratulations on the imminent arrival of your baby.

Have you spoken to your midwife about this? In our area this is the stuff that the midwife deals with not the hospitals.

I've had it in 2 pregnancies and now my 3rd and each time had physio, plus hydro in my last one - all arranged by the midwife. Midwife has also said this time that rather than letting me go over I will be induced so that I don't have to put up with the pain longer than necessary.

Other people I know have had osteo and I recall other various things too but can't remember what. There are plenty of aids out there and the midwife is a good starting point.
