Run down and nauseous first trimester

Very happy to be pregnant after miscarriage, but jeez I'm so totally run down! Totally exhausted everyday, not sleeping well at night, constantly nauseous despite grazing (and no doubt growing a food baby quicker than an actual baby), spotty and generally feeling like I want to hibernate!

Anyone else going through this? Any tips? I've no motivation to do anything other than sleep or eat these last few weeks. Feeling desperately sorry for my DD2 who has an under enthusiastic mum as a playmate and a very over watched film collection atm... Confused

I'm 5+3 and shattered, spotty, also eating constantly, grumpy and nauseous. But still over the moon at the same time! I feel your pain x

I’ve just come out the other side of this so I can commiserate!

For nausea I wore sea bands , you can get them from supermarket or pharmacies. They did seem to reduce the motion sickness feeling.

I did not get on with ginger products at all, they made me feel worse! I had water with a slice of cucumber in that I found really refreshing. Ritz crackers, those nibbles you get at Christmas with sesame seeds/pretzels were great. I enjoyed eating grapefruit too, I read that sour stuff can sometimes help.

As for the exhaustion, I wish I’d napped. Instead I tried to function and just wore myself down. Is DD2 napping age? Perhaps you could both have one!

I feel the same
I can hardly drag myself out of bed most days
I have no energy for anything
Never felt so lethargic in my entire life

Memzymoo · 02/04/2018 22:24

I feel exactly the same. No motivation to do anything and generally off colour all day.

louise987 · 03/04/2018 07:49

It's exhausting isn't it! Cucumber water sounds good, even water is making me heave Confused

I went to the GP last week who gave me some meds for the nausea but they don't seem to help and I'm reluctant to take anything in the hope this phase will pass! Sea bands are a good idea, will have to pick some up.

Yeah DD is still napping once a day so I usually try to it my head down then, even thou I'm knackered I'm finding it hard to actually sleep... if that makes any sense?

I'm pleased it's not just me feeling like this, you don't want to complain about how rough you're feeling when you're lucky enough to be pregnant. Let's hope we all start feeling better soon!

I'm the same - this nausea is draining me! Feel I am constantly fighting to not be sick. Although I have found chewing gum is helping with nausea a lot atm! Give it a try.

Woke up this morning sweating but shivering in a panic. Hate to say it but can't wait for the next few weeks to be over!

Pinkvoid · 03/04/2018 11:39

The nausea drains me beyond belief. I go to bed feeling shit and wake up feeling similarly, feels like there’s no relief from it. I have to hold my nose a lot of the time to avoid smells I can’t bear as well otherwise I gip. I’m asleep between 9 and 10 most nights and also end up falling asleep on the sofa in the evening for an hour too! It’s pretty terrible but, like you I’m delighted to be feeling such strong symptoms following two miscarriages.

I'm the same with the sleep I'm absolutely shattered but can't seem to drop off and everything just seems like a chore even when my ds is asking for things I feel horrible because I'm so sluggish 🙁

louise987 · 03/04/2018 17:33

Anyone found anything that actually helps with the nausea? I feel like I'm always saying 'I feel sick' to DH and although he sympathises I don't feel like he can really get how restrictive it is. I constantly feel like I'm 5 seconds from throwing up.

Work is really difficult right now. How long does this last?!

I'm the same @louise987 I have been having a digestive before I get out of bed and try chewing gum and fizzy sweets during the day, today has been much better for me. As soon as I get a little hungry I'm dry heaving

ALS26 · 03/04/2018 18:22

@louise987 and I'm hoping it won't last long as it's really getting me down!

ALS26 · 03/04/2018 18:27

Also is anyone taking prenatal vitamins? I swear they are making me more sick!!

louise987 · 03/04/2018 20:04

I'm finding that only filling things like carbs, milk or cereal are keeping the edge off during the day, but at night nothing helps. Fizzy sweets are good idea to try thou. I have a horrid taste in my mouth all the time too? It's making me feel more nauseous! I wonder if that's hormonal to?

Same with the pre-natal vits, I've stopped taking them too as I felt they were making it worse, even if I took them with a meal.

Hope you start to feel better soon @ALS26 !

@louise987 yes I imagine that will be to do with hormones! You too! We don't have long to go at least! We can make it 😁
