Chemical?

Hi everyone

Just after a bit of advice. I found our last weekend I was pregnant - approx 4 weeks. Friday night I had some clear discharge with some pink running through it. I thought nothing of it. Woke up Saturday morning to brown blood which got progressively red and passed some teeny tiny clots with some mild cramping. The flow was medium, just like a period. Yesterday it slowed down a lot and today even more so. No clots but still very red.

Could this be a chemical pregnancy? I had done x3 digital tests last week to confirm pregnancy and Saturday and today did a Clearblue non-digital one and got very faint positives. They haven't changed in colour and are both exactly the same. I am 5 weeks now.

Pregnancy symptoms had stopped I thought but I've started getting cracking headaches again and needing the loo loads.

I'm going to call my GP tomorrow. Just wondering if there's any small chance all might be ok?

Sorry for the essay x

Also wondered how often to test to see when it should be negative x

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I think tests can stay positive for a few weeks after a loss so testing again now probably won't give you a clear answer.

It's hard to say what's going on, many women have bleeding in early weeks (I did, but not quite as heavy as you describe) and go on to have happy pregnancies. Often early bleeds can be put down to implantation, or some sort of bruising. My experience of a chemical pregnancy is that it's extremely painful, but again, I'm sure that can be different.

You can usually call your EPU, and they'll see you if you are filling a pad or so every couple of hours. You could try them if you don't have luck with your GP.

I really hope the bleeding settles and you get some answers. Here if you need to chat.

Thanks so much. Just so confused. I haven't had a miscarriage before so no idea what to expect. I thought it would be more painful. X

My last loss would probably be classed as chemical and I bled for nearly 2 weeks.

I think seeing your GP would be best and see if they can test your HCG levels - that will give a better idea of what's happening. I think it might be too early for an internal scan to know for sure.

It's a horrible uncertain time, sending Flowers

Thank you @bellanotte22 I'm sorry for your loss. Can I ask if you found it painful? I've just found it like a period but the loss has suddenly decreased over the last 2 days. I will call the GP tomorrow.

It was like a period yes just what felt like a never ending one. I felt v washed out with it.

I know you're probably worrying but try to relax if you can. Take a nice warm bath and be kind to yourself.

Sorry you're going through this. I had a chemical at around the same time and it was just like a normal period for me. Didn't hurt any more or last any longer than a period.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to the GP this am x

Pregnancy test negative. Seems it was a chemical. Fingers crossed for next time x
