I would contact your mw x there is a condition that presents as itching, can't remember the name... Think it may be Chloastis or something? Xo

LostMyBaubles · 01/04/2018 14:55

I will do thank you

I have heard of something like that but always thought it was something that popped later on in pregnancy

obstetric cholestasis - often gets even red at night, takd a look here

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 01/04/2018 14:56

BAD at night not red

LostMyBaubles · 01/04/2018 15:02

Its horrendous at night.

Hubby bought one of those hard sponges on a stick for the bath (can't remember the name) so im not cutting myself trying to scratch it all away!

Theres no spots etc where im itchy so not a rash.

My sister had this in a couple of pregnancies, once from quite early on, so as advised, get it checked out.

LostMyBaubles · 01/04/2018 15:06

Should be ok to give the mw a ring tomorrow?

Just read that link and saw increased risk of bleed after delivery. I already bleed very heavy (2.5L of blood was the most I lost at delivery)

Nichola did your sis have to be induced early?

No ring your midwife today.
It's a very serious condition and can be fatal for the baby. I had it but not until later on. Call your midwife straight away.

Nichola2310 · 01/04/2018 15:13

I think she was booked in to be induced a little early with her last pregnancy, but then went naturally the week before.

LostMyBaubles · 01/04/2018 15:23

Will give her a ring and see what she says
I am due to go for bloods on Thursday for something else (im on blood thinners and they need to check my levels)

Ive rang and it went to voicemail so left her a brief message about whats going on.

This is my 4th pregnancy and bloody hell been the hardest.
Have swelling of joints from around 14ish weeks, started blood thinners very early.

Bled a few times. Had severe sickness until around 15weeks (medicated and thankfully no longer sick)
Oh and im bloody tired all the time

Never had any of this with my boys

Have you got a local maternity advice line you can call?
It's worth doing it sooner rather than later

LostMyBaubles · 02/04/2018 10:26

Theres the early gyne unit but they wont see for anything other than bleeding or pain

Will try her number again today
The itching kept waking me up last night

Try out of hours GP. They should be able to refer to maternity assessment. You need bloods doing to check your bile acids and liver function.

Sunshinesaz86 · 02/04/2018 11:32

It sounds like it could be obstetrics cholestatis as PP has said.
When you get bloods done this week get them to add on bile acid and LFT’s.
I was diagnosed at 28 weeks and needed weekly bloods and ctgs then was induced at 38 weeks. My levels remained pretty stable on the medication they gave me. DD was born perfectly healthy less than two weeks ago.

If your on Facebook type in ICP support it’s an open group and there’s lots of informative information on there!
It can be a serious condition (more so after 38 weeks hence they induce before hand) but can be managed well with medication and close monitoring so try not to panic.

Just make sure your MW listens to you and does the bloods. Also recommended for itching is menthol moisture cream you can find online and piriton helps too.

LostMyBaubles · 02/04/2018 16:40

Mw I saw last week (at the hosp as im classed as high risk pregnancy been at the hosp, still not seen the local mw) she was horrible.

Im there again on Thursday and hope someone actually checks me urine and bp this time (was only a bloods appt but did think with all my probs this would be done)

I would love a little listen of heartbeat too as ive had some pain which has now settled

I would definitely call the maternity triage number for your local hospital as you need to be seen and checked out. A simple blood test can tell whether or not it obstetric choleostasis and although it's rare for it to happen so early and it can do and you would require close monitoring and treatment.

FancyNewBeesly · 02/04/2018 17:50

Your hospital should have a triage line. Yes, it’s mostly meant for labour but over a bank holiday weekend when you can’t access your MW or GP I would call them.

LostMyBaubles · 04/04/2018 12:07

Not had as bad itching past 2 nights.

Mw has advised to get bloods done tomorrow as im at the hosp

On a bloody separate note had some odd pains across stomach and a tiny amount of streaky red blood in cm this morning.

If the pain gets any worse will have to get checked today but circumstances right now make it hard. Obv if it gets worse will have to go

I have had some bubbling sensation since which im guessing is baby
