Baby aspirin

I had a MMC with twins last month. They stopped growing at around 6 weeks, we found out at 9 weeks and my SMM was performed at 11 weeks. I've read that taking baby aspirin can decrease the chances of miscarriage. I've had two miscarriages previously. The pathology report from the hospital following the SMM said there was nothing unusual about the pregnancy. Has anyone taken the baby aspirin? Thank you.

I'm taking them at the moment in my 2nd pregnancy cos DS had IUGR. From what I understand, there is not an awful lot of risk attached for most people, but I took the advice of a consultant. Do you have any follow ups where you could ask? Am very sorry for your loss.

I took it until 32 weeks after a history of miscarriage. We had ivf and everyone at my clinic is told to take it as standard. Good luck!

I'm taking it. My registrar said she recommends all first time mums take it and basically thinks everyone should take it since there are numerous positives and no negatives.

I'm on it to reduce pre eclampsia risk. It's fine and hasn't had any side effects for me. I'd do some research into it and make an informed decision then.

I'm so sorry about your twins, it must have been awful to loose them both. I hope you're doing ok.

Hi Ashley,
So sorry for your loss. That's a really sad thing to have gone through.
Low dose aspirin is used to prevent a lot of different pregnancy problems, and is a very safe medication with low chance of side effects. I've got to disagree with ClareB83's registrar though- nothing has no negatives. I think sometimes registrars and consultants end up with a biased view because they don't see the people without any problems. I'd advise you to speak to your doctor for advice based on your own medical history.
Also I know I'm being pedantic, and I know Doctors do it too, but it's not baby aspirin or junior aspirin, it's low dose. The other names imply that it is suitable for children, and aspirin shouldn't be given to children because of the risk of serious side effects if they also have a fever.

I'm on low dose aspirin to make sure baby is growing okay. First baby was small anf they think my blood was to thick. Not sure its helping yet though x

My sister has had 5 miscarriages in a row between 6-8 weeks, She was advised to take it and is currently pregnant again and 15 weeks along, she wishes she would have found it sooner.

Aspirin is very useful. I’m on it too after 3 miscarriages and and ectopic.
Could I ask if you have had a Thrombophilia Risk Profile blood test. THis rules out all sorts of nasty things and tells you if you need blood thinners. Good luck. X

I took it with this pregnancy after two miscarriages at 12 weeks, I'm now 31 weeks with a very healthy baby girl.
I did however get it ok by a consultant, I'm not sure you're allowed to take it off your own accord.
So sorry for your loss 💐

After 4 miscarriages I was advised to take it - I then went onto to have 4 healthy babies. It worked for me.
