To those who have bought already - or are mums already with sound advice...what should I do? My mum has accquired a cosatto diablo, but I also need a car seat and fancy a pram/system that allows me to see my baby (first time mum you see)
I live bang in the centre of London so need something lightweight - but we also enjoy our country walks.
If anyone has a cosatto diablo could you let me know how sturdy it is? could it do country walks?
only 6 weeks left so feel I should be making an effort now!!

I would get something with a carrycot rather than a car seat that attaches to it.
much, much nicer for baby to lie flat instead of being scrunched up.
no idea on what though, depends on your budget I think. quinny buzz maybe?

hairymclary · 09/05/2007 22:53

although, not the buzz for country walks

CharlotteMJones · 09/05/2007 22:54

was thinking of mamas and papas skoot as it has car seat and flat pram which can face in or out. or perhaps a 3 wheeler

CharlotteMJones · 09/05/2007 22:59

seeing as I've already recommended it on 2 other threads today I'll say mountain buggy here too.
it is light. you can have a carrycot, and it's fab over rough terrain too.
no idea what it's like getting on and off buses/trains though i'm afraid

Hi charlotte. I left it quite late too and stressed about which to get. It's not nearly as important as you think when the baby arrives. Best advice I could give is get a sling then you have more time to sort out pram. We got quinny buzz which I love. Fine for country walks although if v.rough terrain we use on the 2 back wheels only! It would be no use for buses tho IMO.

We've decided to go for a Bugaboo Cameleon after spending hours on the internet, stressing in Mothercare numerous times and getting advice on here. I was pretty much against them at first (seemed too expensive and too much of a fashion statement) but after resisting for a whle I'm about to go and pick it up. The main reason was that we walk in the country a LOT (our road is unmade and goes straight into miles of country lanes so even 'walking down the road' requires a pretty sturdy buggy). The Bugaboo has pneumatic tires on the large wheels and good suspension and seems one of the best for this. There are others that are good over rough ground but many of them either don't have a carrycot so aren't great from birth or wouldn't fit into our (small) car. We also looked at the Britax vigour but that was very heavy. If you flip it round the Bugaboo is also good for in town.

The drawback is I think it would be a nightmare on public transport as you have to take hte carrycot/seat off to fold it. Also I still think the cost is verging on ridiculous but they do hold their value well - just look at EBay - so hopefully we can recoup a lot of that.

catz - i travel daily on london buses and bugaboo cameleon is a dream pram
easy to maneouvre
fit adjacent to another pram
i dont worry bout it not folding seat never had to do so frankly donot think its much of an issue

its a good pram

Catz · 10/05/2007 17:42

thanks Scottshmummy - that's helpful to know. Unfortunately the main bus company around us will only let you on with a buggy if you fold it (even though it's hardly ever busy outside rush hour). The driver was incredibly rude to a poor woman who took a while to fold hers the other day even though there were only about 3 of us on the bus!
No sure how common that is though but if London buses don't make you do that I guess it's fine for the OP.

mad4girls · 10/05/2007 18:11

hi charlotte

how tall are and dp if quite tall the skoot will be no good handle is adjustable but only was only high enough for me when in forward facing position, was too low when baby faced me (i also think there v.exspensive for what u get) also they dont fold down too well, and remeber those swivel wheel will be at the back end and the brake at the front when baby is facing you, which to me is completly pointless IMO

think you would be better off with a p3 pramette(available with car seat if you lke)can be used facing you but flat think they do a liner for it now too to make it more cosy for a new born there a good strong stroller, got all the features of a pram but with option of umbrella folding(not the

lighetst but, stronger and would defo last a couple of years constant use.

I can ditto the positive comments about the quinny buzz. Plus I have used it one buses too and its fine. You can get a carrycot and use the maxi cosi car seat on it too which is great. Have used it on walks but we're not very adventurous so depends on what you're into. We also bought to quinny zapp for travelling as its much smaller and lighter. The pushchair is not suitable until 6 months and doesn't recline but it also takes the same car seat.

We have mates who got a backpack to take their daughter for country walks which they found much better than a pushchair.

ScottishMummy · 11/05/2007 09:11

catz- blimey rotten bus company making you fold prams - boo
