Is it normal to feel totally and utterly exhausted post-30 weeks?

I'm almost 33 weeks and just feel wiped out.

I had to leave work after lunch yesterday as just felt like I was going to collapse with exhaustion. I got home and sat on the sofa.... my DH got home at 8pm and found me totally passed out.

I've not gone to work today. Got up 8.30 but only made it to 1.30pm before I had to have a nap, despite not having left the house or done anything other than a bit of work on my laptop.

Is this normal? I feel horrific. Really worried how I will get through the next 5 weeks until mat leave .......

Pretty normal tbh. Might be worth checking your iron levels and asking for a diabetes test as they can both cause that kindness of exhaustion, but equally it might just be that you’re very pregnant now.

My iron was fine but I slept for the last ten weeks . Couldn't keep my eyes open .

My iron and urine have been tested and both fine - but will ask for re-testing next time I see the GP/midwife

Moonmaker what did you do about work if you slept for ten weeks?

I don't want to start mat leave early as want as much time as possible with baby

I was spectacularly exhausted with my 1st.... had to go onto maternity leave at 30 weeks. I'd ask the midwife to check your iron and sugar levels just to be safe, but your body is growing another life - pretty tiring stuff. I just gave in gracefully and enjoyed the resting.

I might ask my GP to sign a certificate saying I need to work from home for the rest. One of my issues is my 3 hour per day round trip commute into central London (walk - train - tube - walk). It is just killing me.

I was like this. It was like a curtain coming down at week 30 that didn't lift for nine weeks. I felt like an appalling mother to DD at that point and felt so lucky DH was about to take over.

I would recommend examing your diet and getting in good loads of fibre and folates. I was advised this, didn't listen and felt fucked for the best part of three months. All bloods fine.

I'm ashamed to admit my diet has been a bit shit for the whole pregnancy - I've suffered sickness most of the time and have only eaten what I can face, which has been crap like white bread, carbs, junk food

Mate, I've eaten haribo solidly since May 2016 when I fell pg with DD.
DS is 5 months!

Diet amendments are no fun but I vow you will fel a wee bit better.

Maybe wait until after Easter though 🐰

Wizards - I took early mat leave at 33 weeks but by then I was in crutches due to severe SPD. It was simply impossible for me to carry on working as an early years teacher given the relentless , excruciating pain I was in and that teaching 4 year olds means you have to be up on your feet all day long .
I ended up taking a years mat leave and didn't go back .

One of my colleagues was given a Dr note that said work from home or not at all. I think it sounds very normal if you have that long commute.

Yes I had a work from home certificate when I was suffering from severe sickness in first trimester.
Thankfully my GP is brilliant and understanding about pregnancy complications.
