Congratulations.

GPs don't usually have any involvement in pregnancy, in most places you self refer to the midwife unit.

Dreamingofkfc · 27/03/2018 10:01

They don't confirm, if you've had home pregnancy tests saying positive, they go by them. You should have an appointment to book in around 10 weeks and then a scan between 11-14 weeks. Most places you self refer to maternity care. I've never seen GP, always gone straight to midwives

booandbumpp · 27/03/2018 10:01

GP tests are no better than home pregnancy tests so they general don't test unless your not sure!
Congratulations! Most info about what to eat/not eat etc is on NHS site. But yeah, your first appointment will be your booking in app with midwife and they'll go through your family history and medical history
Congrats again!

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/03/2018 10:02

No one's going to confirm you're pregnant. Home tests are very accurate so you don't need proof from a doctor.

Everything you need to know about what to eat, not eat, safe medications, exercise, usual symptoms etc is on the NHS website.

Most people get a booking appointment with a midwife around 7-10 weeks and then after that they book your 12 week scan in.

If you want more info, there are loads of books out there, but the NHS website has everything you need to know.

Try to relax, and good luck with your pregnancy Smile

Congratulations! There's not a lot for medical people to do in the early weeks, which is annoying when you're brimming with excitement and questions. It's a bit of a surreal time because you don't look or feel pregnant but you are.

Look after yourself and the weeks will soon start flying by.

You can pay privately for an Hcg blood test if you want certainty.

Congratulations!
Agree with above advice re NHS website for guidance on food etc. Hope GP mentioned folic acid too if you weren't already on it.

Alanares89 · 27/03/2018 10:29

Aw thanks! Yeah a think I’m just freaking out, I guess I have a fear that my tests were wrong for some weird reason and then I go for my scan and nothing is there! I reckon I’m about 6 weeks pregnant so I’ll wait and see what happens, very excited!!! Thanks for all the advice, I’ll probs need to pop on here often and ask silly questions, not prepared to tell my mum or partners Mum until we’ve left the shock absorb in!
