I’m having regular scans and appointments due to a small baby/high bp last time.

I had a growth scan with my 1st later on in pregnancy as the midwife felt baby was measuring small. At the scan they estimated his weight to be over 7lb, weeks later he was born at 5.4lb.

With this baby growth scans have been showing steady growth but baby is currently on the 91st percentile and at 30 weeks estimated to be 4.1lb! Head and abdomen measurements are especially high with BPD off the scale.

I have to admit I am getting a bit nervous about giving birth to a monster baby! Just wondering if others who had regular growth scans ended up having babies around their predicted weight.

Had a scan Tuesday lunchtime and said he weighed around 6lb. Wednesday lunchtime he was born at 7lb13 Grin

I had regular scans because they thought a fibroid might impact his growth. Instead he measured big all the way through, at 39 weeks he was estimated at already 8lb 4oz. He was born at 40+6 at 9lb 6oz. So big for a first but a trouble free water birth, 2nd degree tear becuase he had one arm above his head rather than because of his size.
I was 9lb 4oz when I was born and my sister 11lb 9oz - I needed forceps, my sister was an intervention free birth on gas and air, my mum is a hero!

I had regular scans with my first and they told me at 34 weeks he was 8lbs. He was born at 38+4 and weighed 7lbs 4. I was scanned at 31 weeks with this baby and told he's 5lb 4, I have another growth scan next week, so we'll see what they say. If he stays on the chart he'll be about 8.5lbs when he comes.

Welsh not sure if there are any near you but check out thisismy for private scans, I used one in Manchester and was around £50 for a really detailed scan report and photos, there's a lot of 'social' scan places about who won't do a full report and flag any potential issues but they were great and open Sunday's too

I had extra BP monitoring and growth scans as my fundal measurements hadn't increased at my 36 week MW appointment. At 39+2 they said nothing to worry about as he was measuring at 6lb 12oz. He was finally born by induction and EMCS at 42 weeks weighing 6lbs.

I had a few growth scans as was under consultant care and he wanted his trainees to practice. They put my DD at a pretty average weight, then I had a scan on my due date, predicted weight on that day was 7lbs 7 and she arrived five days later weighing 7lbs 10

My growth scans (and plenty of them!) weren't even close; suspected v large baby, off the top of the chart (not by much). He was born 3 days before due date weighing 7lb5oz. No explanation, just one of those things. At one of my scans the sonographer mentioned that "baby has a sizeable head", she wasn't concerned but I bloody was! He didn't have a large head at all.

Tiredmum100 · 28/03/2018 20:35

My last growth scan was estimated to be 9 lb 13 Oz at 36 weeks. He was born at 40+5 and was 9 lb 10 Oz.

They were so far out with me that I had them check his weight again.

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 28/03/2018 20:53

They were way off with DS1, they said he was 7lbs at 31w. He was born at 42w weighing 7lbs3. So I didn't believe them when they said DS2 was another big one. He was born at 9lbs10. So 50/50 in my case.

Someonehelpmi · 28/03/2018 20:59

I was induced as they thought my little one was too small (around 5lb) he came out a few weeks ago at 7lb 8oz Smile

ellesbellesxxx · 28/03/2018 21:02

Twins were estimated at around 6lb each at 35 weeks.. a week later were 5lb13 and 6lb15! However my bigger twin's head was right down in my pelvis so they said along they couldn't be as accurate as they would like!

I had loads due to high BP and they were all over the place. Femur measurement too small. Then abdomen measurement too large, head to small then all too large.

In the end I had an 8pound 4 ounce Dd with everything in proportion.
