Very unsettled baby at 37 weeks

I'm 37 weeks at the moment and literally have the most unsettled baby of all time. My son was engaged by 34 weeks and all I got were the odd few kicks but this baby is doing full on somersaults in my stomach all night and most of the day. If this normal? It's very uncomfortable and makes my feel constantly sick Confused

Have the movements changed at all? I was told that if there was any change if movements whether an increase or decrease then I should head up to the hospital to be checked just to be sure baby was happy.

She's always been really active but seems to have seriously upped the anti the last few days! I hoped she was just getting into position x

Definitely go in for monitoring if you feel your baby is much more active than normal as this can be a sign of distress.

Call the hospital even just for peace of mind x

I could have written this as I'm in the same boat, but wasn't worrying about it. I get lots of kicks though rather than somersaults, and it's been really ramped up the last week or so, but only at certain times (not constant) I thought it was only reduced movements that you'd to worry about?

FHNick · 26/03/2018 09:18

I did too. I wasn't worried so much as super uncomfortable and wondered if anyone had found ways to relieve the sickness! I have midwife in a couple days so don't think I'll call hospital unless it gets unbearable! Went 2 weeks over with my son, not sure I can cope with that again. (Although I know I don't have a choice if baby isn't ready) x

Any change to a normal pattern of movement should be monitored, so increased or decreased. Both can be a sign of distress and need checking out by a professional.

Go and get checked OP, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Go and get checked. There is a whole page in my maternity notes dedicated to getting checked if movements change, plus a huge sign up in the waiting room at hospital about it. What harm can ringing the midwife do?

FlaviaAlbia · 26/03/2018 09:24

No, it's increased movements too Shanners123

I went 2 weeks over with my first and was induced at 37 weeks with my second due to lack of growth and reduced fluid. It was only picked up on scans, otherwise I'd have had no idea. I'm not trying to worry you but better to be safe.

Get checked. I had increased movements during a nasty bout of illness and when I mentioned it to the doctor, he sent me to the hospital for monitoring within hours. Everything was absolutely fine. I had no idea that increased movements could signal anything either up until this point.
