Sleeping positions

I have been completely paranoid about sleeping positions right from the start but now that I am in the third trimester I am even worse!
I sleep on my side but I often feel my baby kicking me just about where I lie and I am so worried about squashing her. I don’t know how physically possible that is but it’s really affecting my sleep. I could feel her head on my right side the other day and I couldn’t sleep that night because I worried that I would roll over slightly and hurt her.
Am I being daft?!

Don't worry you won't hurt her and if your position is making her uncomfortable she is likely to just kick you until you move anyway!

You're not being daft, it's lovely that you care for your baby and think about her lived experience. I worry a bit about hot and cold drinks and how uncomfortable that must feel against baby's skin, but I want to be comfortable too! However I agree that you can't squash baby lying on your side. Are you doing pillows everywhere? If you have one between knees and one to hug, even one to support your back, it should help keep you quite upright on your side instead of leaning forward which may feel squashy. Good sleep is important for you and baby so play about to find a comfy position. In my last pregnancy I also had a small foam wedge pillow I used to wedge in my back to stop me rolling on my back which is how I like to sleep. Sweet dreams!!

Thank you for reassuring me! I sleep with a pillow between my legs but I will try one behind my back too.
Not long now and I will soon have a million other things to worry about I am sure!
