Feel dreadful

No point to this post really, I just wanted a moan.

I am absolutely fed up and feel awful. I am 8 weeks tomorrow and have horrendous nausea which lasts all day everyday from morning til night (and through the night). Been sick a handful of times but not loads, it's just the constant nausea is crippling. It's making me dizzy and unable to focus on anything. I am so ridiculously tired aswell, combination of pregnancy fatigue and waking up constantly with the nausea.

I've self certed from work this week but if it continues I'm going to have to get signed off for longer. If I didn't have two children I hoe stay wouldn't get out of bed in the morning Sad

Hi, it is the absolute pits, isn't it...I am 16 weeks with baby no. 2 and still struggling. And have been off work for nearly 7 weeks due to overwhelming, crippling tiredness that has left me barely functioning. Things are slowly getting better now but from 9-14 weeks I was a total wreck. And the nausea from 6-13 weeks was just awful. No helpful advice to give, just moral support...

Urgh, it’s horrible isn’t it? Poor you. You are right at the worst bit for sickness. Have you contacted the Pregnancy Sickness Support number? They will have some great advice and support for you.

And rest. As much as you can. Try to organise as much childcare as you possibly can...play dates, or someone to come over and cook their tea/do bedtime. I know this might be something you wouldn’t normally ask people to do, but if things are really bad, now is the time to ask! Friends will be happy to help you. And honestly, being tired makes such a difference to the sickness.

You absolutely WILL get through this. One day at a time. The sickness will pass. Just try to give in to it and rest however you can.

Thankyou Thanks

My DH was away on a course this week so DM basically moved in to look after the kids bless her.

It's just awful. And relentless, just doesn't end and it's getting me so down.

If I need to be signed off what do I say to the doctor when I go see them? Do I just straight up say 'I need signing off work', or tell them what is wrong and hope they suggest it?

My doctor was really forthcoming with signing me off work, suggested that rather than trying medication first (though ended up really sick and needing both). Tiredness absolutely makes the nausea worse so it makes sense to have some time off.
I would also (as suggested by pp) check the Pregnancy Sickness Support website and consider calling them for advice. If the nausea/sickness if affecting your ability to function and do normal daily activity (which it obviously is!) then medication may help. I'd strongly suggest having a read/getting advice before seeing Dr so you have a clear idea of what you would like them to do to help you (GPs seem to vary hugely in helpfulness for pregnancy nausea and vomiting).

OP I actually wrote pretty much the same post out yesterday but didn’t post it in the end. I don’t have any children yet (thankfully because I have no idea how I’d cope). I’m 8 weeks too and have felt awful this week. I’m off work on annual leave this week, or I’d have to have taken time off too. Didn’t get out of bed for 2 days at start of the week. Some days are better than others, but the bad days are horrific. I would definitely suggest going to your GP, that’s what I plan to do if mine continues next week.
There’s some good advice on this thread. Hope things improve for you soon

Shit isn't it? I'm 9 weeks and although I've only vomited once so far (albeit very violently) the 24/7 'feeling like I'm on a boat on choppy water' nausea is really getting to me.

I have a four year old and I work full time in a very busy and active job that involves being on my feet a lot which is hard because the only thing that actually seems to help me at the moment is lying still. I've called into work sick the last two days because I've felt so awful and I'm absolutely dreading going back on Monday.

I have thought about going to the GP but I don't think there's much they can do since I've not actually been vomiting, just feeling very, very sick all the time. I'm getting frustrated with myself for not being able to just get on with things.

Flowers for all of you.
