Just wondering how you ladies that have had two c sections found the 2nd one? Was recovery harder? Pain worse? The only thing i found with my first c section was i had to sleep up right on the sofa for 3 weeks as couldn't get out of bed.

My first was an emergency section, second was elective and was so much easier in every way. I recovered really quickly even with a toddler added into the equation!

My 1st was an emergency and I was asleep for it... Recovery was as expected... My 2nd was an elective and I was awake.. And the recovery was 100 times harder. I was in a bad way..BUT I was older and had twins.

My second was much better than my first, which was an EMCS after a long failed induction. The second was also an EMCS but at 37 weeks and I wasn't in labour at all. So I had slept and eaten before hand, and felt a lot more in control than the first time. The recovery was better, probably because I wasn't exhausted and ill like I was after the first. The pain was ok, I've always found afterpains the worst part, but with the painkillers I was given it was manageable.

I just had to keep reminding my 4 year old not to jump on me or ask for a carry for a while!

I've had 3, the first being a crash c-section, the other 2 were elcs.
Recovery was much easier 2nd and 3rd time than first, 9 days after number 3 dh had to go away for work for 6 weeks and I had all of the dc. Apart from my 2 yo dts trying to climb me, I was back to almost normal within a fortnight.

To get out of bed, lift your knees up together, and drop them to the side. Let your legs from knee downwards swing off the bed and use the momentum and an arm to sit up. That's how the physio taught me to do it when I had spd, and it works equally well recovering from a cs!

My first was quite traumatic, they had to put me to sleep as the placenta was in such a place they knew it was going to be a bloodbath, for want of a better word. I lost half the blood in my body afterwards and had a transfusion and nearly an hysterectomy. I was unconscious most of that day and then stayed two days in hospital, passing blood clots the size of a large orange (sorry tmi). They let me out because it was xmas eve and I begged to go home but had severe anaemia and felt rubbish. The actual incision healed beautifully, no issues at all.

The second c section, again with placenta praevia, was much better, I was awake and chatting away and saw my son being born. As I was doing so well they sent me home the next day on what they called "enhanced recovery". I was fine but I could have done with another night in hospital as I had two other children around and I could have done with the rest -and the morphine- a bit longer tbh 😁
Recovery was much better as I didn't have the same major blood loss so felt stronger.
I got around with crutches and for a few days my legs were a bit limp and I sort of scrambled and skidded around like a newborn Bambi which my kids found cute and hilarious 😂.
I'm 3 years on and I suspect I have adhesions or something else going on internally now, but nothing I can't put up with.
It does annoy me when people call c sections the "easy way". These are obviously people who have never had one! There was nothing easy about them. I would do it all again though! 😍 x

My first c section was planned because Dd1 was breech. I am opting for a planned one this time round again because when they gave me the list of pros and cons for a normal vs c section the cons out weighed the good. The consultant said i would only be given a trail of labour then rushed for a c section if needs be. I would rather not take that chance that i will be rushed for a c section. I am on aspirin to thin my blood but i have to stop that at 36 weeks. I did try getting out of bed that way but our bed is very low and could never sit up hence sleeping on the sofa. I think i am more petrified this time round as i know whats coming. I found the actual procedure although i can't remember that much, terrifying!!!
