Baby having lazy days??

Should I be worried if baby is hardly moving?
I'm 22 weeks and usually he is very active all day.
Yesterday and so far today he has hardly moved
(He usually has a bonkers moment between 8.30 and 10.30)
Normally he is moving constantly all evening but last night I felt him move once.

Anything I can do to get him to fidget so I know he is Ok?
I tried eating, drinking, rubbing belly, walking around, going to the loo (usually jumps around after I go for a pee), lay down, have a nap.

Anything else I can try?

Depends where he’s lying at 22 weeks. I had days where I didn’t feel a thing at that stage (all three times). I wouldn’t worry at all. I’m 30 weeks now and this one still has lazy days (although I do still feel movement now due to his size, I wouldn’t if he was smaller)

The advice you would be given though is drink a cold sugary drink and lie down on your left side for half an hour... but again, 22 weeks I just wouldn’t worry!

At 22 weeks in my pregnancy I went in to be checked for reduced movements.

I had tried all the things that usually worked to get DD moving and they didn't work so I phoned the day assessment unit at my antenatal clinic and they had me in to be monitored. Everything was fine. You could view that as a waste of time, but it wasn't! Every midwife I've had the luck to speak to has always said that if there's a significant change in movement to get checked.

If you're at home, have a lie down or a bath. I'm 22 weeks as well and yesterday was quieter than the day before when bump cheerfully kicked my side and thumped my ribs. I find they move more when I'm lying flat and more relaxed, as they have more space, but it may just be he's more upright so not bumping against the outside of you, if that makes sense.

What I read on a website when bump was having an earlier "quiet" spell was to lie on your left side for 2 hours - you should feel 10 seperate occasions of movement in that time.

@Ineednewshoes I agree you should go in for reduced movements but most wont class reduced movements until a bit further along due to size of baby at that stage. Some women can’t even feel their baby at all at that stage, for a lot it depends on where the baby is kicking. I will always say go in for reduced movements but not at 22 weeks in my opinion, I think you’re setting yourself up for some serious anxiety in those early 20 weeks

Call your midwife/triage and see what they say. Baby has lots of room to move round at 22 weeks so it’s probably just where they are lying but the clear advice I’ve received throughout is ALWAYS get reduced movements checked.

FranticallyPeaceful · 20/03/2018 10:34

(That said, remember midwives will never mind doing it. Doesn’t hassle them)

After I posted I started feeling him rolling. Over the last week or so he only seems to roll around. Doesn't kick or elbow me like he did before. Used to feel proper little pokes and prods. Now I feel like he is rolling now and then but that's all.
Maybe it's because I'm sitting crunched up at a desk all day and he hasn't got the space he has when I'm not working?
Got horrendous indigestion, maybe that's making him chill? I don't know.

Please get yourself checked. There are all sorts of things that could be wrong (but probably aren't). You would never forgive yourself if something happened and you hadn't been checked.

Juststrugglingabit · 20/03/2018 11:23

He might have his back to your tummy - mine does that a lot (loads of scans due to previous complications) and it feels that way to me.

At 27 weeks, I'm starting to get to know her little routine and I think my baby does have quieter periods and I am getting less concerned by them, which my MW said was ok as long as I come in to be checked any time I feel concerned that it is out of the ordinary for her or if it just feels wrong. You can't see inside, so you never really know what's going on unless you get checked out.

Thelampshadelady · 20/03/2018 11:27

I wouldn’t panic too much at 22 weeks. When I was 22 weeks I had days where I felt plenty and some almost nothing. I’d worry at the time but I’m now 30 weeks and movement has become more and more.
Having said that baby does have lazy days which panicked me initially but I’ve come to accept that’s what he/she does. Oddly, it’s usually on a Sunday!

At 22 weeks I don't think I could really feel bub moving, I only really started feeling proper movements around the late 20 weeks ish (maybe 29+weeks?). My bub has lazy days (37 weeks) but if you're really worried there's no harm in getting checked over x
