Is my gender scan wrong?

Hi everyone, I had my private gender scan at 16+4 last night and was told I'm having a little boy! I've been looking at the scan pictures and I'm now doubting and I think I see a girl. When initially looking at the photo you would say definitely boy so I've highlighted where I think the umbilical cord is and where I think I see girl parts. Please help?!

Only colloquially. That's not the point of the scan AT ALL. It's a medical procedure to identify any problems in the development of the foetus:

Mid-pregnancy anomaly scan
This detailed ultrasound scan, sometimes called the mid-pregnancy or 20-week scan, is usually carried out when you're between 18 and 21 weeks pregnant. In some areas, it may be carried out later than 21 weeks.

The anomaly scan is offered to everybody, but you don't have to have it if you don't want to. The scan checks for major physical abnormalities in your baby, although it can't pick up every problem.

The anomaly scan is carried out in the same way as the dating scan. It produces a 2-dimensional (2-D) black and white image that gives only a side view of the baby. The NHS screening programme doesn't use 3-D or colour images.

BossWitch this wasn’t the anomaly scan, she said in her OP it was a private scan. They do call them ‘gender scans’ which is very annoying and incorrect but blame the company rather than the OP!

Ah, my mistake! Yes that's the company in the wrong then, sorry OP.

Definitely looks like a boy to me. My girl looked very different.

If they’re going to get it wrong, isn’t it usually the other way around- in that they think girl and it turns out to be a boy.

Stop doing the "sex, not gender" thing... They used to be pretty much synonymous, look where seperating them out has got us!
