Frantic movements

Before anyone tells me to, I've already called the delivery suite, they've told me to lay on my side for two hours and monitor movements.
He's going mental in there, I'm 39 weeks.
I've got myself in a panic, I just want to go in and have him monitored, why do they even bother telling us to stay at home?
I've been googling (like a twat) and found this could mean he's distressed, or the cord is strangling him, one woman's baby died after frantic movements! And I've just got to stay at home and count kicks!
It's been 45 minutes of the two hours they want me to keep an eye on it and he's still not stopped, so that's almost two hours he's been going mental.
I don't know what I expect from this post, just trying to pass time I suppose and stop myself googling horror stories.
Someone talk to me please everyone I know is asleep Sad

I am glad all is ok OP. The people on the phone frankly sound irresponsible and reckless. If I were you with any concern in future, I would not ring at all, just turn up. They cannot diagnose or give medical treatment over the phone and if something did go wrong, heavens forbid, the person on the phone would likely be up in front of their professional body.

A healthy baby in utero at 39 weeks should not have to face the slightest doubt or risk; the risk-benefit analysis is skewed so heavily in favour of delivery in the case of doubt. Please don't let them fob you off like this again if you need to be seen.

In my experience, midwives are far more officious, risk-taking and dismissive than doctors. Doctors don't answer the phone but doctors will be there when you present to the labour ward so I'd go straight to source for any concerns ever again.

Best wishes for a safe, boring end-of-pregnancy and a healthy mother and baby.
