Are there any mums who were runners before pregnancy and continued to run during? I ran with my first pregnancy until 32 weeks when it just became uncomfortable and time allowing am hoping to run with my second pregnancy.

Mog, I used to run a lot and enjoyed running on the treadmill up to about 20 wks with my first pregnancy. Unfortunately I eventually developed awful sacro-iliac pain and even walking was uncomfortable. This time round the pain appeared almost immediately (at about 10 weeks) and running makes it 10 x worse.

I have been using the cycling machine at the gym which seems to be fine.

Make sure you wear a b**y good sports bra and have fun running!

I ran up until I was 8 months pregnant, not to the same extent that I ran before - up to 40 miles a week. I found that as I got heavier I became more tired, and my knees ached and like you Mog it just became too uncomfortable. I have to say that I don't have the time now - 18 months down the line and neither the energy. Go for it, I am so glad I did, the weight did not pile on so much and although it's not firm I am in size 8 jeans. Oh to be a carefree gymbunny again!.

I'm running constantly to catch buses, pushing buggy with toddler. Does that count? Actually, I've found all the keeping up on the exercise front much, much easier with my second pregnancy (have no idea why). I found I slowed down at about 25 wks last time, and now am 29 wks and still forgetting that I'm pregnant sometimes - then looking at bump and remembering! But general lifestyle changes mean that I'm now more of a brisk walker than a runner - still helps with the fitness though, I think. Although not a size 8, weight didn't pile on to me, thankfully, during the first one, and I'm hoping that it won't with this one either. Good luck with remaining running, Mog!

Jodee LOL - re read this and how up myself do I sound. sorry, I should be grateful I know flabby or otherwise.

No personal experience but there have been several famous female runners, (such as Yvonne thingie, Scots woman) who have run throughout pg and then gone on to do even better post-baby!!

Charliesmummy, you deserve to be in size 8 jeans after all that running! I was afflicted with the lazies and munchies during my pregnancy, so I've only got my just desserts!

Mog, which bit is causing you concern?

I, too, had Sacro Iliac problems last time and have restricted the time I spend on my feet this time around and it has helped. I've kept active through cycling and swimming. Until we all became house bound with ds's broken leg in traction, I was still easily cycling up to 2 and half hours a day at a very gentle pace and I'm 37 weeks now.

I'm feeling much better than I did at this stage last time. Despite it being pretty warm here in Sweden my wedding ring is still slipping on and off my finger. Seems like some sort of indicator to me, just not sure which type!

I still went jogging 1-2x/week to almost 39 wks with DS (he was born at 39 wks), and almost 39 wks with DD (born 40 wks). The biggest problem is finding places to pee, because it's put so much pressure on the bladder

SueDonim: Is that Yvonne McGregor? She was a fell runner before becoming Olympic cyclist, but I never thought she was a Mum, too.

well, i'm only 29 weeks and the closest i get to running is when i walk up the stairs at work, i huff and puff like i've just run a marathon by the time i get to the top.
