Just wondering what’s the norm. I’m 31 weeks and panicking a bit.

39+ 6. I was induced at 40+1! Lol. I hardly bought anything. Some little babygrows and hats. A little knitted cardigan. Some blankets. Nappies. Sudocrem. Water wipes. Changing mat. Moses basket. Car seat and pram. We hadn't set up the nursery as we knew he would be in with us for 6 months at least, and now we co sleep (something I was totally opposed to before he was born!!) and glad we didn't spend a fortune on nursery furniture etc. Places like Argos do same day delivery and everywhere else does next day. Get the basics but wait until baby is here and then work out what you/baby like and need. Don't worry :)

I had all the essentials bought and hospital bags packed by about 37 weeks I think. Lots of was still in boxes though, DP had to set up the bedside crib while I was in hospital after giving birth!

As for the baby's room, he is 9 weeks old and it is still full of junk as he doesn't sleep in there - the only furniture we have is a chest of drawers and it's not a 'nursery' one as such. We are planning to decorate and get the room set up just before he gets to 6 months old.

Ive been ready about 36 weeks with both of mine. 31 weeks now and not even close to ready

Oh I can’t stress how great Ikea is for baby stuff enough! It’s so cheap as well and worth a look if you have one near.

We had our co-sleeper cot, pram and car seat delivered on sat when I was 36+6. Haven't set any of it up yet - saving that for when I'm on mat leave (Friday is my last day at 37+5). Otherwise we have some clothes and a changing mat and that's it. Not doing a nursery for ages as baby will be in with us.

I wasn't!! I went into labour at 37 weeks the day after we finished the baby's room but i didn't have a proper bag packed. It was my first pregnancy and i was adamant i'd go to 42 weeks and need induction.

I'd taken the mumsnet advice of having one bag for labour and another bag for post natal but neither of them were close to finished. Luckily we don't live far from the hospital so it wasn't a big deal.

I'd also planned on having my hair cut before the baby came which ended up being one of the most annoying things!

@harrietm87 you’ve done amazingly well working so long. I went off at 33 weeks (36 officially) as I put annual leave to the start and gained a few bank holidays . By then I was shattered and well and ready for the rest.

Completely ready at 37 weeks

harrietm87 · 20/03/2018 10:20

@PasstheStarmix I've been really lucky I think - desk job and easy commute, and no spd/pgp/back issues - and even then I've been really tired last couple of weeks - if I have another baby I'm def going off slightly earlier!

PasstheStarmix · 20/03/2018 10:34

@harrietm87 that’s great, well done you as it’s still tiring carrying extra person around as it is. Good luck with everything and enjoy every moment, ds is 1 now and it’s flown!
