Hi All,
So I am meant to be leading a trek in the arctic circle this summer and hence thought I would start trying after this about Christmas time. However, I applied for a job starting in september (I am a teacher) but have been told that they really want me but had to choose someone who could offer hockey. However as they were impressed with me, they want to offer me a job for 18months time, the following september (2019) once one of the teachers has retired. I really want this job and want to work for that school. Therefore I don't know if to start trying now and see if I can get pregnant in the next few months, taking maternity between feb 2019 and september 2019. Or wait until I have started my new job in september 2019 and try around Christmas time then! I don't want to have to ring my new school up and say I cant start in september 2019 as I have just had a baby, or start there pregnant - hence do I try for first asap and have one before I start (but would lose some maternity pay with not going back to current employer, and max maternity leave I could take would be 7months), or wait till I have started new job in sept 2019! I am 31 (birthday in November) now so would be 32 when I start my new job in september 2019, and so would potentially get pregnant at start of being 33 and give birth to first at 33/34. Would like two if preferable, so second would prob be around 36/37! What are peoples thoughts?!

There will always be a reason to put it off. There is no right time.
Do what you think is best.

You will drive yourself crazy like this!
I would not want to be pg for an arctic trek, no chance.

I would not hold out for a job that doesn’t start for over a year, and isn’t permanent.
I would do your trek and then try for the baby. You have no idea how that will go for you or how long it might take. Schools are used to staff being pg.
