Bleeding again at 11 weeks, this time had a scan that show all ok

My wife has had 3 miscarriages in a row.
This pregnancy we have been on anti coagulants - aspirin and an injection).

7 week scan showed all perfect. Last night she woke up needing a pee, and saw some dark brown blood.

This morning light blood. Almost identical symptoms of previous miscarriages.

We just had another scan privately and they showed baby had a heartbeat 143, and there was atleast no blood around the baby. Also her waters (what i understood it is) is also intact. At AE now to check if she has a urine infection, and waiting.

Question is, if she is about to miscarry, and has started sligjht bleeding, would the baby still have a heartbeat and look fine?

Also if she turns out to have a urine infection, are anti biotics safe? The 1st miscarriage she had cramps and was diagnosed with urine infection aswell but within a few hours of her taking antibiotic, her bleeding turned heavy and then she passed a clot. I'm sure the antibiotics didn't cause the miscarriage but just as a precaution, if she DIDNT take the antibiotics this time and does have a urine infection, what could happen?

Please help, I dont know anyone else that has been through anything like this and just don't know where to turn to. I feel so alone and my life has turned from an absolute high to an absolute low.

Bleeding at 11 weeks is really common. Antibiotics are safe and the scan sounds perfect.

Relax and enjoy the pregnancy Flowers

(Antibiotics are not only safe but used commonly during pregnancy because pregnant women are prone to UTIs. I had flu when pregnant with my youngest and had to be on a drip with antibiotics plus sent home with more. He’s a very happy and healthy (and ridiculously smart) 7 year old now

Hi hubby35. I created a post just the other day in an absolute state of panic with similar symptoms. I started bleeding a few days ago at 11 weeks and have had 2 previous consecutive miscarriages, no successful pregnancies.

I was told (just yesterday at the hospital) that sometimes no cause for bleeding is ever identified and it’s actually really common but seeing the heartbeat is a very promising sign. I know how tough it is when the bleeding seems to replicate exactly what has happened before with previous losses - it’s horrible, but the most important thing is that your baby is ok.

I’ve no idea about the antibiotics but I’m sure that you’ll get some great advice and support on here, just as I received the other day.

Good luck and I’m really hoping for a positive outcome for you both. Flowers

I've had two utis and the antibiotics are absolutely fine - infact stopped me progressing to sepsis . Utis can get out of hand very quickly so do take the antibiotics if they say you need to.

It's very common to bleed during pregnancy; some women have it as if their normal cycle is still happening.

Ekphrasis · 17/03/2018 18:04

Basically, I had my urine tested on the Tuesday and it was clear though I thought I might have a little infection based on symptoms.

By the Thursday it was very obvious I did. Started antibiotics on the Friday morning. By Saturday morning I had an uncontrollable temp of 40, racing heart rate and aching skin which the out of hours dr said was worrying, however by the time I saw him it had started to ease. If it hadn't I'd have been admitted.

I bled through two pregnancies with no cause identified either time as pp have said it’s quite common but very unnerving. I’ve also had antibiotics in pregnancy, the prescriber knows which ones are safe so try not to worry.
Wishing you both a happy outcome Flowers

Another one here with bleeding in pregnancy. I’m 25weeks now and had a bit of bleeding the other day- everything okay with baby :)
Was also on antibiotics in this pregnancy, completely safe to take!
Good luck and try to stay stress free is the only and best advice here x

I could never thank evryone enough, for taking the time to reply. Wife and I both reading all the comments.

We are back at home now, no urine infection detected (though this only checked against a limited number infections and so we are to go to the GP on Monday).

When we got home bleeding increased but appears to have stopped now.
This is just so reminiscent of all the past occasions, each time the passing of the main clot or the heaviest bleeding happened on a Sunday.

Going to ride through the night, wife keeps needing to wee every 30 mins or so.

Thank you all again and sincere wishes to anyone in any discomfort or uncertainly. We know how it feels

Glad she's ok. I'm surprised the hospital didn't have a better screen though? My gp dips it but sends it to the hospital for proper analysis (but it's a huge hospital).

Needing to wee that often is a bit worrying but might just be pregnancy. Get her to drink lots of water to flush anything out. Make sure that test is done ASAP on Monday . I hope things continue to settle. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy x

hubby35 · 17/03/2018 21:14

Thanks again.

We had the scan at a private clinic and the urine dip was at an NHS walk in centre.

In the emotion I may have misunderstood something, what I believe doctor said is he did not pick up any infection though a comprehensive analysis could only be done at a laboratory and that a sample would need to be sent by the GP.

Anyway Monday we should be wiser.

Boy, the things I would do to fast forward time is incredible...

Just an update, about 40 hours since the bleeding started.

Total bled - maybe half a pad, probably less.
Blood is dark red and now Gritty? At times it was a light pink colour.
She now has a model pain by her hips.
No cramping or pain around stomach at any stage.

We are now much relieved after reading everyone's comments, (thanks again) wife continues with bedrest, though ofcourse not exactly at ease until the bleeding stops.

We have our 12 week appointment on Wednesday.

Thought I'd write this update, as I found it extremely helpful to read other people's posts.

Good luck for Wednesday Flowers

RLOU88 · 18/03/2018 19:43

Hi, hubby35

Glad to hear the bleeding is less than a pad full in total and no stomach pain this is all good.

I’m on bed rest too this weekend for bleeding- low placenta. You sound like your doing really well and looking after each other.
My best wishes for Wednesday Flowers

hubby35 · 18/03/2018 20:33

Fingers crossed for you. It doesn't sound a huge amount of blood and no pain is good. Good luck for weds Thanks.

Re the walk in, that makes sense. The same happens at the gp, basic test then they send it off.

onemoremummy · 18/03/2018 22:47

I hope it turns out well for you and your wife OP.

I bled from 11-14 weeks on and off, I went to my GP when it first started to be told I was 'probably' miscarrying.

I was sent to A&E sobbing, the nurse in A&E told me she had seen 4 women that day with the same problem and all was well with each one, and it was only 11 am. This was really comforting to me so thought I'd share.

I was fine, DS is now a very happy healthy 3 year old.
