Summer babies and suncream?

Im due my first baby in May. Should I buy suncream for their changing bag etc? Ive read that babies shouldn't have suncream on their skin, and although ill always keep them in the shade as best I can with a hat etc Im worried they might still get burnt?
What are you guys with summer babies doing or have done with previous little ones?

We didn't use suncream until DD was mobile - before then we kept her out of the sun. She wouldn't keep a hat on (she was born in the winter, only crawled at 12 months, so not mobile for her first summer, but able to remove a hat!) but we used a shade on the pushchair etc.

Newborns need to be kept out of the sun altogether really. We used some from 6 months onwards (overseas holiday) which was ok but aggregevated execma till we found the right brand

My DD was born in May last year. Apart from occasional very brief exposure to the sun (5 minutes here and there, not in the heat of the day) I kept her out of the sun.

I wouldn't want to use sunscreen on newborn skin and even with a very high factor I still think it would be a bad idea to have a baby out in the sun.

We didn’t use suncream, just kept her out of the sun ie. had a sunshade for the pram and only sat in the shade.
To be honest on the really hot days I didn’t tend to take her outside until the evenings when it was cooler and kept her inside in just a nappy with a fan on

Babies should be kept out of the sun so you don't need suncream for a newborn.

My DS was born during a heatwave and we were advised to keep him in the shade as sunscreen can do more damage than good on their sensitive skin.

Our pushchair had a built in sunshade zipped inside the hood and clipped on to the handle so it provided full shade but I think you can buy parasols and shades which clip on and adjust to most models.

Thank you ladies! Ill look into a parasol for the pram and as I said Ill be doing my best to keep them out of the sun anyway :)
