So yesterday I went to my first scan. On the 23/2/18 the predicted how far along I was, which would of Meant I was 12 weeks 4 days yesterday.

Went to my first scan yesterday and the sonographer had difficulty finding baby but did eventually and sent me out to drink more water to fill bladder more to repeat the scan 25 minuets later. However after I went in again and the sonographer said that baby has appeared to be implanted low and that I also have a tilted uterus so is very difficult to get a good photo.

He go a very faint photo and measured baby and said baby was measuring 11 weeks but not to count on that rough estimated due to the tilted uterus ect. He's cancelled my bloods and downs test and asked me to come back in a week to repeat this again.

Has any of you ladies go a tilted uterus and what was your experiences? Or a low implanted baby?

Hi op,

I have a tilted uterus and have my 12 week scan on Monday.

I've read that it can definitely make seeing the baby harder. Did they not offer you a transvaginal scan? Appreciatly that can make it easier fir women like us at this early stage.

I would try not to worry too much and go back next week as planned. Perhaps ask for a transvaginal scan if they are still having problems picturing baby?

I've got a tilted uterus. It was fine by my 12 week scan and tends to shift forwards as you grow so don't worry. It's a variation on normal anatomy - like being left handed I guess.
I had a scan about 10 weeks which showed that the baby was very low, and I had to have an internal scan so the sonographer could get measurements. Did they offer an internal at all? Remember dates can be a little off so if you were a week or so earlier it makes the baby even smaller and harder to find. Don't worry though, it sounds like they found a heartbeat and all looked ok?

Yes I have one and have to have a transvagibal scan when I'm pregnant

BubbleAndSquark · 16/03/2018 10:55

I've got one and it caused no issues AFAIK. First 2 DC were premature but third wasn't so unlikely to be connected, and had very fast labours but again probably unrelated.

Where baby is implanted is likely to change, DC3 was implanted at the lower front and the consultant said they would check again further on the pregnancy and that it was likely he'd moved up higher with the womb expanding, which he did.

Yer same happened to me. I had to have an internal scan instead was in there over an hour. Pics wasn't that good either, said by my 20 week one It will of corrected itself xx

@isthismummy @Girlwiththearabstrap
They didn't really discuss much it was just the sonographer there, so after I went home and did some googling. I wasn't offered a vaginal scan

Thank you everyone who has commented so far

Mine is tilted. They did transvaginal scans and got the pics needed.

I have a tilted uterus, baby was sat very low for a long time. Even at my 20 week scan she almost had scanner thingy (don't know the technical word for it) pretty much on my vagina trying to get his spine!
I'm 39 weeks now and my uterus is very round and full of water and baby. It pops in to a normal place after a while.

Kittypillar · 17/03/2018 00:25

I have a tilted uterus as well - it made it trickier than usual at my 12 weeks and I was offered a transvaginal scan. I was told it was a very common variation (my sonographer also compared it to being left handed) and not to worry as it would most likely tilt itself forward as the pregnancy developed. Sure enough, I got to the 20 week scan and it had, so no problem that time around :)

Woodchuck9 · 17/03/2018 17:24

@Kittypillar when did your bump start showing?

@Woodchuck9 I didn't show until about 22-23 weeks. Got bigger very quickly after that though!
