Hi everyone! I’ve got my 12 week scan soon at forth valley hospital in larbert and was wondering if anyone could help me! I’ve heard I might need to pay for scan photos or only receive 1, obviously we’d like to get more copies to send to parents and grandparents, is this something forth valley does? If they do can anyone remember how much they charge? X

Hi, not sure about that hospital but my hospital they charge £5 for a photo, but with my 12 week scan they gave us more pictures anyway. Could you photocopy the picture at home to send to parents/grandparents?

Photocopy is a great idea thank you!!!
I’m now worrying about the Nuchal Translucency test and if it’s bad if I don’t want to know? I feel I’ve not yet been able to enjoy my pregnancy cause I’m only told the worst case scenario Sad

This part is really worrying for most people, but if it is any help at all, the odds are very much in your favor and once you've had that scan the chances of a healthy baby and straightforward pregnancy are high. It does get better - I'm 26 weeks and now mainly just really enjoying everything and excited for my baby, even though I did happen to have some complications along they way Smile

Tip on the NT measurement itself; you might have seen from forums that some places will tell you if the scan measurements look good, which is reassuring. Other places simply say nothing until they have received your blood results back - this does not meant they have seen something wrong! It just means they don't routinely give out any results before the bloods are back. Just to warn you.

Our hospital policy was to provide one free photo and additional ones you had to pay for. Actually though we got three different ones.

It was no big deal though, we just took pictures of them and sent them to parents etc.

Hi lass

NHS Glasgow and most of Scotland policy now is NOT to tell you anything about the Nuchal results until week 20 (I find mine out in 2 weeks).

We used to get a letter out but that's been stopped so Midwife will tell you at appointment unless major issues and you'll be brought in to see consultant.

We only got one photo but we can donate a couple of quid at 20 week scan and get more - week 12 scan is limited to 1-2 photos max.

I have a relative in Aberdeen who received her 12 week scan and was told during the scan her Nuchal Translucency was all good and she received 7 scan photos, it’s all so confusing how different hospitals are!
I think I’m going to go for the NT but my partner and I have talked and are both happy to continue with the pregnancy no matter the outcome, which is a relief!
I think with it being my first pregnancy and everything being thrown at me at once it is daunting. I’m at risk of preeclampsia due to being overweight but my blood pressure is perfect so I’m hoping everything else goes smoothly! Thank you all for your help! X

Hiya

Yeah this is my second pregnancy and I'm overweight too so don't be surprised if they can't get the results (happens to anyone due to baby being a gymnast!) And they will do bloods at 16 weeks.

Are you consultant led or MWL due to risk of PE? Dreaded aspirin is what I'm on to prevent it.

13kitty · 15/03/2018 13:44

They never told me, just said I’m to see my doctor to get aspirin. Community midwife made me feel a bit stupid for asking loads of questions but I like to have all the facts no matter how daft Confused

At our local hospital, scan pictures are £5 each x My daughters 12 week scan cost me £50 🙈😂 x

SeeKnievelHitThe17thBus · 15/03/2018 13:55

At our hospital, you pay for either 2 or 4 photos (none are free) and you can only have one set. We bought a printer/ copier / scanner when he were epxecting DS so we could scan and send out jpegs of the scan photos. You won't be allowed to pay for duplicate sets.
