I need some advice badly

I am 14 weeks in to my 3rd pregnancy and I have been haveing 1-2 Migraines a day. I am seriously worried as i am not sure if it just the weird weather or if there is a problem with the baby, although my baby is moving around quite a bit of the time.

Has anyone else suffered like this, can anyone offer some advice.

Nicola

See your GP and get some codeine. Did you suffer from pre-menstrual migraines? I have the same problem ands it is because I have had premenstrual migraines since the age of 14. Sorry you are going through this, I empathise with you are a fellow sufferer.

It is the hormones I am afraid.

I had this problem too - they settled again during pregnancy but then were very frequent after I delivered. My GP at the time was homeopathic trained and gave me Bryonia 30C which really helped with the headache.

I can totally sympathise. Problem with codeine is constipation. Does paracetamol help?

I avoided butter and chocolate which seemd to trigger them.

I suffered from terrible migraines in the first and beginning of my second trimester as well, on pretty much a daily basis. Sooo awful! I was quite prone to migraines before pregnancy but I was told this was normal to experience in pregnancy even if you don't normally suffer from them. The migraines are caused firstly by the pregnancy hormones swishing around and secondly b/c of the increased blood volume in your body. I thought it would for sure never go away but it did settle down at around 14 or 15 weeks for me so hopefully yours will settle down soon too. Nothing was a perfect cure but I found taking paracetamol, drinking a lot of water, having a hot shower and lying in a darkened room with a window open for fresh air did all help. I really sympathise with you but it's all normal at least and definitely should stop soon. Mention it to your doctor or midwife tho at your next appointment so they are aware of it at least and can moniter it if they do not subside.

I can't go on enough about the wonders of cool packs across your forehead and good old vapour rub. Maybe I should change my name to Vapourrubformigraines

I was offered beta-blockers around 24/26 weeks as I was in a cycle often having 4 aura-type migraines a day. Unfortunately I can't take them due to other reasons, I found standing under the shower really helped, relieved some of the pain from my head & shoulders too. I was beginning to think I was having strokes cos I was getting numbness & pins/needles down my face, my speech was slurred & my vision v disturbed, thankfully they settled down, relatively quickly. I had been experiencing really severe headaches all through pregnancy & I suffer hormonal migraines & ordinary ones too, altho' the numbness was new & frightening. Tiredness seemed to trigger the really bad cycle, a week off work, warm showers, cold compresses, paracetamol & peace & quiet did the trick. I don't envy you & I'm hoping I miss out this time. Hope you feel much better soon.
