Can anyone please help? do I need to purchase a specific policy that covers pregnancy or is it just a standard policy? do I need to declare to the insurer that im pregnant to get the right cover, is pregnancy considered a pre-existing condition?
I looked into Colombus travel insurance for example and they dont even ask you what week you are or if you have any complications before travelling. Can anyone please suggest a good insurer? thank you...im rather confused..

Following as I’m travelling abroad in May when I’ll be 20 weeks!

Insureandgo.co.uk

Most travel insurance will cover complications from pregnancy in their standard Ts and Cs. Just nothing relating to normal pregnancy. And they'll have a latest date you can travel. Usually 36 or 38 weeks.

Insureandgo annual family policy is the only one i could find that would automatically cover the baby as well as you. If the baby is premature and needs care it will also need insurance and this is the only one i could find!

The easiest thing to do is to call a couple and ask your questions. They will be helpful. Pretty sure I didn't need to declare pregnancy or need any additional cover over and above the standard annual family policy.

I'm gonna use insure and go I'm travelling to Cyprus at 31 weeks xx

I travelled at 25 weeks and called my insurers as I had read the small print cover to cover and wasn't sure if it was a 'pre-existing condition' but they said that as long as medical professionals hadn't said I couldn't travel then I was good to go and they would cover anything that came up. This was 4 yrs ago but I can't imagine anything has changed.

Thank you all. What I find strange is that most of the policies I looked at do not mention anything about pregnancy or the specifics of when complication will/will not be covered. However, Insureandgo was the only policy I did see pregnancy mentioned in depth so maybe it is best to go with them.

Have you checked OP.

Complications should always be covered unless the condition is pre-existing. So, for example, if you go away with say preeclampsia it is reasonable for them not to cover the treatment for preeclampsia. However, develop the condition while you're there and they should cover you.

Thank you CharlieandLolaCat. And I guess they will check with my doctor/midwife whether this is a new condition or had it before when I make a claim?
