Hi, just need some advice because I am panicking.
I worked in the NHS Ambulance Service for 5 years then I got a new job at NHS Business Service which I started a week ago but Just found out I am 8 weeks pregnant but my probation is 6 months.
I have read the NHS maternity policy and it says 12 months continuance Service, which I have since being with the Ambulance Service. I'm scared in case they get rid of me because I have a probation of 6 months. It's an office job so no heavy lifting.
Any advice would be helpful.
thank you

They can't legally get rid of you just because you are pregnant; they would have to have another reason to not keep you on after the probationary period and there is a very strict process they have to follow with regards to having regular 1-2-1's making you aware of any issues with your performance; setting you objectives, giving you time to address the concerns etc.
I am sure you will be fine.

I got a job before finding out I was pregnant in the nhs. I currently work in pharmacy nhs and my new job is just a diff part of pharmacy nhs. I told both my current and new job that I’m pregnant at 12 weeks, my current job has kept me on until I give birth with my new job agreeing for me to join them when I finish maternity leave. Am very fortunate to have such great managers who support me. What I’m trying to say is don’t worry, as you have continuous service they know you are dedicated to work so I’m sure they will make a plan that suits you and them xx
