Hi I'm going to physio tomorrow for spd/pgp. I'm 25 weeks pregnant so long time till labour but it's been bugging me for a while, I've read lots of story's online as where ladies with spd are induced early or have planned c sections, how correct is this? I'm already so nervous about labour already, it's the not knowing that's making it worse.

I had severe spd from 25 weeks and was under a consultant, it was frustrating for me as he wouldn't induce me because of it even though I was on crutches Sad
Was induced at 39W anyway because of 3 episodes on reduced fetal movements. Have a healthy, happy 18 month old now Grin

I was induced at 40 weeks I laboured and delivered kneeling on all fours and it was fine.

I found the osteopath made a huge difference to my sod, still in agony but I could shuffle around without crutches. I did have a pushchair to lean on out of the house though!

Had terrible SPD previous pregnancy, could barely walk. Induced at 41 weeks, no problems in labour or birth (just shy of 10lb baby). In fact it was less painful on my body (foof aside) than the birth of my first with no SPD 🤔

Had SPD with my DD, spontaneous labour and tbh my head was so busy with actually giving birth that my SPD didn't come into it. Mine was severe enough that in the last few weeks I ended up on crutches too so from personal experience I would say it has very little bearing on labour.

This time around (35 weeks) it's been way less severe and so long as I can keep my head I intend to labour as I did before

I had crippling spd from 24 weeks last pregnancy, by 32 I basically didn't have a pain free gap. I know they say it's still possible to have a natural birth with SPD, but mine was caused by being left in stirrups for hours/forceful use of forceps in my first delivery, and only started after DS was born. It took over a year to go, so I requested a c-section. The consultant agreed to it without hesitation, and it was a much more positive experience than my first delivery, this time SPD had gone by the time my catheter was out. 3rd time round now, already having problems at 13 weeks but will be having a section again. Good luck!

Thank you for everyone's responses, I'm getting pretty anxious about it all. I walked to the shop and back earlier, no more than 10 mins and been in pain since.

The only treatment is rest so literally don't walk/do anything unless utterly essential! I did the stairs on my bum etc

SPD with DD2. I was off sick from work and on crutches from 28 weeks.

Labour was easy. SPD pain was far more challenging. I gave birth on a mat on all fours. I used gas and air.

40+0 spontaneous.

I had spd in both pregnancies, both times it got better just at the end - second time it was made much more manageable by physiotherapist-led antenatal Pilates classes.

Both births were spontaneous, no issues, with short pushing stages - an apparently fairly common “silver lining” to spd so don’t assume it will be horrendous! I imagined I’d be on crutches and having a c section but it turned out fine.

I had it but week in to spontaneous labour at 36 weeks. My midwife measured how far icould spread my knees and put that in my notes.
I found labouring on my knees more comfortable however I was made to lie on my back and by that point, the labour was so painful and consuming that the SPD didn't enter my head!!!
The pain was almost gone as soon as I have birth and I remember being amazed that I could turn in bed pain free however I do still suffer almost a year on if I twist or move my pelvis awkwardly.

Plan to use pool as long as you can get in and out you are safe to use it.
