Does baby get sick if I get sick? Worried!

Currently suffering the cold from hell, as I imagine a few of us are, does anyone know if symptoms pass across to baby?

I'm 29 weeks ad he feels a bit less wriggly but he does have quiet days sometimes, when I do feel him less.
I'm just trying to work out whether his slowing down could be due to him being a bit under the weather with my cold?

I was checked for reduced movements a week ago and felt like I'd wasted everyones time I don't want to be a time waster again, or have them tell me off again.
Besides no way to get to hospital, I live very rurally, buses do't run on a Sunday and the hour plus taxi trip each way would run into 3 figures that we just do't have!

@Bluebellysmell please don't worry about wasting your time. I completely understand where you're coming from as I'm 29 weeks too!

Have you started doing Kicks Count yet? Definitely look it up if not.

Your baby is more important than a midwife being a bit moody with you. If you have concerns, please get it checked out.

Also, I'm sure you know this, but try having a sugary drink and laying on your left side. It helps me loads when I'm feeling worried (which is very frequently)

Your baby will be picking up all the antibodies. Don’t worry. They’re perfectly happy and safe in there... you just end up feeling so much worse when pregnant unfortunately. Flowers

Having just had flu (confirmed flu) and two hospital stays within a week I can assure you little one is safely protected. BUT any reduction in movements should be checked regardless of whether you where there a week ago or an hour ago.

I'm at 34 weeks and have a cold in full swing, only change in her movements I've noticed is sometimes if I have a coughing fit I think it wakes her up.

The things that get her to move if she's sluggish are laying on either side for awhile, laying my hands gently on my stomach, and eating chocolate. Eating any kind of sweet might do the trick because of the blood sugar change, my baby just responds like clockwork to chocolate.

I've heard cold drinks can also do the trick they just don't seem to with mine, maybe because I prefer most drinks cold...so she's use to it.

If you're concerned then I wouldn't hesitate to call the number that should be on a sticker on green notes about reduced fetal movement. As one midwife told me, movement is your baby's only real means of communication with you so if something changes drastically with it whether it be reduced or something else then you shouldn't ignore it.

Please go in if you do have reduced/a change in movements. It's never a waste of time.
A midwife (on one of my many visits as one twin didn't have a pattern in the end) told me they would rather see 100 women with a happy outcome then miss the one ..

Also yes, it takes midwife a minute to set you up and leave you alone whilst the machine does it’s thing and then comes back and looks at the results. It’s literally one of the easiest things in their day and they’re glad to do it

Baby doesn't have a pattern but I do have a 'normal' number of kicks, times and frequency vary though which is hard to tell if the 'pattern' has changed.

I've asked several HCPs what constitutes a change, do they mean that movements halve? Or if you normally feel 50 kicks a day is 45 a drop? and no one will give me a definition, they just say to get in touch if it changes, well it's different every day!!!

I had a subchorionic bleed in my first trimester, I have lost pregnancies before in the first 12 weeks, I was told off at EPU for crying when I had the big, fresh red, heavy SC bleed, aparrently the tears were unnecessary. So I feel that each time I have a concern, I get bollocked for being concerned.

I've spent a huge portion of the day lying on my left, so much so my hip is in agony, and baby has moved a little, just not as much as I'd like.

I can't physically get to the hospital right now, my partner is several hours away with work, we live very rural and there is no public transport on a Sunday, it's about a 40 mile drive to the nearest hospital so I can't go get checked until tomorrow.
