transverse baby

The last time I saw my mw the baby was lying transversally. I have a suspicion that it's still the case and at 34 weeks I'm getting a bit worried, even if she still has time to tip head down. Could anyone who's been in this case tell me what it feels like? My bump looks very low down, she mainly kicks on the sides, despite 2 or 3 kicks in the ribs. The kicking can be rather painful too (and she kicks an awful lot!), I don't remember hurting like that with dd1. I also feel a big lump on the right side, which I guess is the head. Does it sounds like a transverse baby to you?

I don't know if your baby is still transverse, but mine prefers to move only on the left side, ob/gyn says that is normal to mainly feel baby on one side, as he may have a "nook". IMO it hurts more in second pregnancies than in first just due to looser muscles. I'm 37 weeks and at your next appointment listen to where the heartbeat is if it is fairly low in your belly than you have a good chance of being head down.

Anyway don't worry because at this point there is plenty of time for your baby to change positions.

Hope that was helpful.

I was told last MW appt at 35 weeks that my baby was oblique transverse. She didn't seem overly concerned but I've been quite worried about it.

Now 36.5 weeks and I really think he has turned so there is still hope for you if baby is transverse. MW told me to dust down my stairs to get him moving always useful advice when heavily pregnant. However I have been kneeling on all fours so don't know if this helped. At 34 weeks there is still time for them to turn. Good luck!

Most of my babies were turning and turning right til the last minute..even my twins! So probably plenty of time to go head down.

Good luck.xx

My little one is either transverse or breech, doesn't seem to want to go head down yet... And has been transverse for the past 4 weeks... But I am only 29 weeks gone so banking on LO turning much nearer full term, or at least when going into labour!

However, on another thread I saw the link to this website
spinning babies which made interesting reading and had some suggestions for promoting head down positioning. I am now trying to swim twice a week as that is also meant to help the baby move when swimming on your front to a more head-down position- and also trying to sit on my gym/birthing ball when at the computer as I do sit for long periods at work and not sure that's helping the baby move....

I am sure there is lots of time yet for your LO to move but like you I'm trying to do anything that might promote optimal positioning!

Good luck! xx

Piz, My ds was transverse occasionaly
He went head down before I went into labour but as I started to push he went back up and into transverse again!

We eventually got him to move with lots of moving about.
So it can be done.

Plus I really knew when he did move as it felt very strange.
