NT Scan “very thin” 1.6mm

Hi
I had my 12 week scan today which took 3 attempts at scanninf, sending me away for a wee then food for them to get the measurement for the back of the neck. She said she wasn’t 100% happy with the measurement she has taken but she has put it in my notes as it is better than nothing. She kept saying because it was “very thin” it was difficult to measure.
I was 12+1 today, confirmed by the scan and the length of baby was 54.9mm.
While she was struggling and saying it was so thin I asked if that was a good thing? I’ve only ever heard of thickening being a problem. She said not always.
So I’m just wondering if anyone knows if having a thin neck fold can cause problems?
Also, can anyone tell me how long the blood results take to come back for me to get the overall results?
Thanks in advance

I think mine was 1.5mm and she told me she'd be well happy if that was her baby. That with blood test came back with 1 in 30000 chance of DS I think. The other two were like 1 in 150000. I can't remember how long the blood tests came back, im sure they were back by my 16 week appt but i know they take a lot longer than regular tests because they have to go to genetics labs. I can't see why a small measurement would be a problem? Not very reassuring of her to leave it like that but my sonographer had no doubt that the measurement was positive so try not to worry

Mine was also 1.6 and had no issues with it been too thin :) xx

I’ve never heard of it but then I tried not to read anything about it as the sonographer said it’s not the measurement alone but it combined with blood test and your information (age, smoker etc) which is all combined for a risk factor. I can understand them not being willing to discuss fold measurements for that reason but to say oh it’s not great but I’ll put it down somethings better than nothing etc is very unsatisfactory and does not instil confidence. I would have asked the sonographer to ask a colleague or supervisor to a) see if they can get better measurement or b) if not to discuss how best to proceed in circs. If you’ve left now I’d call up the number on your appointment letter to discuss the same or speak to your midwife re how best to clarify an accurate measurement was taken and therefore that results will be correct.

Mine was 1.0mm with DD! Sonographer just said "nice and thin". It translated to a DS risk of 1 in 59,000 together with bloods, and she does not have DS.

Basically - if they don't worry, you don't worry. Otherwise you'll drive yourself insane on google.
