Thrush! Been given an internal cream as pessary didn't work... any one else used this?

I've got to put it up every night for 14 nights - yuk.

Am 6-7 weeks pg and had a slight bleed last week (a few days after the pessary). It has been suggested the bleed was due to cervix irritation because of the thrush but am a bit worried about using this cream, especially as it is for 14 days! On the other hand, I need to get this thrush cleared up and am not prepared to try garlic cloves! Any advice anyone?

Hiya
I had this, its not as horrid as you expect. Do it just before you go to sleep and wear a pair of old nicks. You should start to get some relief in a day or so

Good luck

Thank you! Another question - how do you know its in high enough? Obviously I don't want to put it in as far as it goes and irritate the cervix again.

It kind of works its way all around by itself so just put it in as far as is comfy, not as far as a tampon though

flightattendant · 05/05/2007 17:36

I had one of these, it was a once only application though I think...not sure why 14 days with this one.
It did seem to do the trick, yup you won't want to put it right up on the cervix, it'll be Ok a bit further down. Do wear a pad though!!

becklespeckle · 05/05/2007 19:36

Ahh, thanks for your advice guys! Think it is a milder one than canesten which is why it is a longer treatment. Perhaps doc thinks longer treatment more likely to do the trick?!

Beckle you have my sympathies.
I recently had thrush at 20 weeks pg, tried everything natural, not garlic but cut out yeast from diet, ate more yogurt, used spray of vinegar and water, it did help the burning pain at night. then used canestan, no luck then tried monestan, a once only pessary tablet followed by cream. It caused nightmare stinging and burning followed by long shower at 4 am then ice packs for the rest of the night. 2 days later thrush was gone, maybe horride stinging tablet did work. I've heard pg thrush can be quite stubborn. Probably doesn't help that you can't put it up too far, don't use any applicators and you shouldn't need to worry about it being too far. I hope yours goes away soon, also think you need to treat asap

Ah I think when you're Pg they don't tend to prescribe the really strong stuff, for some reason.
I'm sure it won't do you or bubba any harm.
Good luck!!

a mum at school swears by a homeopathic remedy for thrush. I think i have her phone number - Would you like me to find out what it is?

becklespeckle · 06/05/2007 09:17

Thanks all, have used the applicator Uki but not very far in, that is probably why the canesten pessary didn't work last week - scared to put it in far enough!
Mckenzie - that would be great! I am a firm believer in Homeopathic remidies - did not think to look for one to treat this!

hi becklespeckle - i've left a message on my friends answerphone to get the name of the remedy - hopefully she'll come back to me later on this evening.

becklespeckle, I have thrush too. My GP has given my gyno daktarin which I also have to use for 14 nights. It's safe to use in pregancy you just have to be careful not to push anything you use in to far. I missed out a couple of days and could already feel the thrush returning. It is really unpleasent. horrible infact. I had it all the way through my pregnancy with DD1, not at all with DD2 and I had it before this pregnancy even started. Once you have finished your course go straight back to the doctors if you feel it returning as it gets really nasty if you leave it.

I really hope it clears up for you.

mckenzie · 07/05/2007 20:14

becklespeckle, I spoke to my friend today but I'd got it wrong. It was a remedy for cystitus that she had, not thrush.
Sorry.

becklespeckle · 10/05/2007 17:14

Thanks for asking your friend Mckenzie! I am giving the cream stuff a go at the moment. It is extremely yukky but does not seem to be inflaming the thrush like the pessary I used did! Fingers crossed it will work...
Thanks for the advice Goingfor3, hope yours clears up soon too!
