I am 8 weeks pg and so so tired all of the time. My motivation for housework has virtually gone, I have to sit down between tasks and force myself to do things I’d normally just get on with. I feel like I need a nap every day and am going to bed early and sleeping all night (except for a toilet trip during the night).

I have two dcs age 4 and 5, I feel guilty that I’m not doing fun stuff with them. I went out in the snow with them yesterday and baked today but I really have to psyche myself up then rest afterwards.

I feel queasy all the time, but I was prepared for that and remember it lifting with the other two between 13-16 weeks. I can’t remember this crushing tiredness. I’m worried I’m just being a total lazy sap. But it’s normal for the first trimester and will disappear in the second, right?

I think I slept for about 16 hours a day up until 12-13 weeks Blush

Didn't notice exactly when it lifted but I remember being about 17 weeks (when the vomiting stopped too) and realising I no longer needed a 4 hour nap at 5pm!

Sounds normal to me Smile

Ahh you’ve made me feel better already meow thank you!

Last time I was at this stage in pg I was actually still on maternity leave with my first, so I suppose I had more time to sneak naps in when DD napped! Trickier now with my wide-awake-all-day kids!

Totally normal! Mine never lifts though, I’m tired all through the second trimester too I’m afraid!

Sounds just like me - 12 weeks pg and just starting to feel slightly less groggy - for the past 8 weeks could happily have slept 16 hours a day! Feeling pretty guilty that i didn't make it out in the snow with DS even once - well done you for getting out in the snow and baking!!!

holycheeseplant · 04/03/2018 16:00

I'm 30 weeks and haven't been able to do snow or baking - don't be so hard on yourself!

Energy will come and go. Maybe double check with gp iron levels etc but otherwise extra tv isn't going to hurt them. You'll probably feel more up for going out and about in the spring. Congratulations!

TheCatsMother44 · 04/03/2018 16:03

I felt like I had been hit by a bus or had an epic hangover until about week 16, then I got a little more energy back until later in pregnancy, maybe week 30 onwards, when energy levels went downhill again.

If/when you do get your energy back later on, enjoy it!

Thanks everyone,you have reassured me!

Sorry others are feeling rubbish too through. Sorry your tiredness stays Detective

I did nothing from christmas time til a couple weeks ago. Going to work took all my energy and I just wanted to sit/nap/sleep constantly.

OH took over absolutely everything housework wise, shopping, cooking. He is seeing it as a real treat now my energy is coming back! (15 weeks now)

You're growing a baby, it's hardwork on the body. Relax when you can and energy will come back in a few weeks.

Smellyjo · 04/03/2018 17:19

Wow user your OH sounds amazing- mine is pretty considerate but no way he'd take over like that!

Sympathies Origami, 'crushing tiredness' is a good way to put it. It's hard as well because it's so unseen and when you're not talking to many people about it it feels like quietly wading through treacle all the time.
