Advice on making them go away?
I won't take paracetamol because every time I do, they make me feel sick and dizzy.
Been sat in a dark room all day and that's not helping either.
Most probably a stress-headache 🤔

Been feeling "off" all day though... sore head/eyes, head feels very heavy, feeling so hungry but when I do eat I feel sick.
Just can't win today at all. Any help?

Definitely go to your gp. I had migraines from 9 weeks in bith my pregnancies. Once the first trimester was over I could have ibruprofen and triptans but was advised to limit them to a couple of times a week. Eventually I had to have Amitriptyline which I react badly to but the side effects are slightly more tolerable than the migraines!

But don't think "I'll wait another week". Go to your GP and discuss what options would work.

And luckily for me the migraines stopped when I entered the third trimester. Ramped up again in the last few weeks but easier to deal with as I was on mat leave then.

Don't dismiss trying coke as a pp suggested. Dehydration is a trigger for a lot of people and sugary, caffinated drinks can help. Caffeine has the same effect as triptans too, a headache specialist was ok with me teating headaches with a couple of cups in pregnancy.

Thank you ladies.

Any sort of medication I've taken this pregnancy just makes me ill, for some unknown reason.

I saw the midwife about 2/3 weeks ago, she said my bp was fine then and she also took bloods which I'm guessing were fine because I haven't heard from her.

Day 3 of this awful migraine and sicky feeling. 2yo coming back to me today from his dads too, so no time to rest 😭

I think you should get your BP checked again as in today. The thing with pre eclampsia is that it can come on really quickly, so if your BP was fine 2/3 weeks ago it doesn't mean anything now.

Your bloods she took wouldn't test for pre eclampsia.

Lj8893 · 04/03/2018 09:55

Actually I don't think, I URGE you to have your BP checked today.

Cathster · 04/03/2018 10:07

I agree; your BP can be fine one day and then it can all change overnight. It did for me. If you’re on day 3 of headache with no respite there’s really no harm in getting yourself checked out.

OP please go see your GP, I have always suffered with migraines and had them right the way through my first trimester. They got so bad I went to my GP and they talked me through my options. Triptans can be taken if you're really stuck and your GP can advise which is safest. For me I only had to take 1 triptan and it was enough to break the hideous cycle and allowed me to rest and recover and go again!

They went after about 15 weeks but then switched to tension type headaches which I could manage with paracetamol if needed and the 4head stick was a godsend, I would apply it across my temples and down the back of my neck over my shoulders.

I'm in my third trimester now and haven't had a headache or migraine in weeks so there's a chance for you they will ease off.
Look after yourself, eat often to keep your blood sugars up and stay hydrated xxx

Lj would my best bet be ringing traige (who are an hour's bus journey away on a "normal" day - most likely longer with this damned snow!) Or 111? If they suggested seeing a doctor then the closest place is a 15 minute walk?

Ideally you need to go to maternity as they will want to do bloods and other tests if your Bp is raised. But anywhere you can get your BP checked is fine, just be prepared if it's raised to be sent into maternity. Worth taking a urine sample in too.

Lj8893 · 04/03/2018 22:28

How are you doing op?

greathat · 04/03/2018 22:35

I had migraines late in preg. When checked my blood pressure was up, had to have close monitoring after that

LaurG · 04/03/2018 22:49

I take migraleve at the first sign. My gp it’s fine. It’s the only thing that works for me. If I don’t take it soon enough only bed rest will do.

The other thing that helps is massage and acupuncture or cupping. It’s pricey but effective. I go through spells of migraines and find a 15 minute neck and shoulder massage every two weeks and cupping breaks the cycle. Obviously you need to check the practitioner knows what they are doing.a chair massage is a godsend. Don’t need to lie on your front.

Do you have any migraine triggers? For me tiredness is a major trigger so I’ve been really caretto take it easy and not over do it. The other thing is too much caffeine but that doesn’t count right now as I’m limiting.

I'm at doctors this morning was of work all last week with migraines and I can't stand it any longer xx

LimonViola · 05/03/2018 09:34

Do calm down dear highinthesky, if you read my post a bit more carefully you'll see that I advised OP of what works for me with migraines, and qualified that with 'I can't vouch for how safe any are in pregnancy so make sure you get advice from doctor first'.

I'm sure OP is more than capable of taking advice and using it wisely/safely, she's not going to run out and gobble down boxes of migraleve and ibuprofen lysine because somebody said it works for them.
