Don't want to go too over due date

Can I ask my midwife to induce me earlier?

First two kids I was induced 10 days over due date but I'm 4 years older this time and had a friend who went 10 days over and heartbreakingly her baby was stillborn. She's had a scan day before all was well and next day when she went to be induced it wasn't. Everyone around said they left the baby in too long.

That's unlikely the medical reason for your friend's stillbirth, could be any number of reasons, but I can definitely understand your worries.

Speak to your midwife and explain your worries.

Although stillborn stats are higher in those overdue, its tends to be pregnancies that have gone over 42 weeks and even then I think its a low amount from what I remember reading.

I don't know if they will do it on request but I would definitely voice your concerns if its playing on your mind. Just be prepared that they might say that they'll only induce when theres a medical reason to.

Hopefully with it being your third, baby won't be as likely to be overdue.

Hey OP-I think it depends on the trust. Oxfordshire it would be a no but others might?

Really don't want to dishearten you but there's every possibility this baby will be late too. Mine have been later each time! 1st at 10 days early, 2nd 5 days late, 3rd 12, very nearly 13 days late. Id just speak to your midwife and voice your concerns. Have your babies been quite big? Just asking as mine have all been big (3rd 10lb8) and have been told I'd be offered induction at 40 weeks if I was to have another baby
